Alexanderjr- Yup I shot some refs of some black sheets I have, I draped them over some furniture and took some refs. Thanks for stopping by.

    Seaport- Thanks Brother

Here are a couple of photo studies. My main goal was to learn how to use Painter. I'm starting to get somewhat used to it.

Excited that you're getting painter down, will be looking forward to what you do with it.
Brilliant last pieces, especially the girl with the speech bubble, great energy and color!

Love your sketches. the Superhero portraits are great!

The characters on the book cover seem a little stiff, but I guess the publisher wants everything super sharp?

    thanks for sharing your work!

Velocity- Thanks for the feedback. I checked out your sketchbook and I got stuck on page 1 for about an hour. JEEZ dude. I'm going to leave a comment once I can get my head around it.

Lhune- Thanks Brother. I think you are getting there, that running white horse thingo you painted is outstanding. I dont think I could have done that half as well.

Obstfelder- Thanks mate. Yeh I agree about the stiffness. I wish I could blame the publisher but I think that it is actually a problem of mine. I just cant seem to inject the sense of movement and energy that someone like Greg Manchess or Jon Foster seem to do so easily.

    Sinnerman- Thanks Brother!

wilkerson- Thanks mate. Request accepted! This king Pin was done as part of a friends sketch blog, over the next 4 weeks we'll be drawing 4 different Spidey Villians. So sure, why not do the Rhino next? For the other two I'm not sure who to do. You can see the blog at houdinislastescape.blogspot.com.au

wutangclam - Thanks =) I think I usually start black and white, but I just till I get a good idea of the form and values. Then I throw colour at it.
