    Hey everybody I'm new here! I've been lurking around for a long time and i think its about time to post/contribute. Here are a few things to start off. I will try to post frequently, it will be mostly studies or things i have worked on for college.

    in short;

    Thanks, both of you!! . Currently, I'm studying in a concept art program at my local college. It's a one year program and it was just implemented this year, so its not quite reached its full potential. I can't complain though, I'm learning quite a lot and really enjoy it

    Here are a few more old things from the last year or so:

    thank you tronrobot! : )

    here are two things i worked on today for class. i used myself as a reference in
    the mirror. They didn't turn out as well as i planned, the eye gave me the most trouble. If anyone has any tips/advice/critiques regarding these types of studies that would be awesome:

    Hey, I like your sketchbook so far! It looks like you are doing pretty well with both drawing and painting. I especially like the blue hands in the first post, and your painted work. As for the study of the sitting man, definitely continue to push the simplification there - think about stroke economy, staying really basic, and what kind of 3d shapes you are actually rendering and how to make those shapes read. A good trick is to squint at your drawing and the reference frequently, so you can only see large blocks of value/color. For instance, by squinting at your wip and ref, I immediately noticed that the shadowed side of his torso is a few values darker, overall, than you painted it. In any case, good luck!

    Thanks RedOwl : ) Now that i look at it , the shadows do definitely need to go down in value and need some warming up. I'll definitely give simplification a shot as well! Thanks for the great critique!

    Here is an ear i painted from my reflection:

    so heres a study i did today. I tried to challenge myself a bit by working at 100% opacity and not using colour picking or any other things like that. The goal with this one was to give some indication of for using simple large brushstrokes, and trying to get the colours right. More studies tomoroooowwww

    Also finished up those byzantine knight + princess thumbs. Started on wrking at some New kingdom egyptian priest + queen.

    heads from life in top of post 7 show promise, do NOT do color picking - it is like heroin, you only find you need more .. I think getting the drawing down first and then working your shadow shapes in digi or analog will help. I think there is a ton of potential considering you have just started. Keep it up, work hard and things will happen!

    @Kevin: Thanks for the encouraging words : ). Yeah , i realized the colour picking could become a problem so i made a conscious effort not to do it in the second nude study i did. Resulted in a poor painting, but i know it will help me a lot more in the long run. Again, thank you for the advice : ) hopefully there's more to come!

    @prsnsweeney: Thank you!, i will definitely be posting more : ) trying my best to make at least one post a day!

    @mrd33ds: Thank you so much, lots more to come! : )

    Heres something i did for colour theory in class. We were supposed to create some complimentary neutral colours in photoshop, not quite sure if I did it correctly. Colour theory is definitely something i will have to work on alot after school is finished.

    Also here are some movie still studies : )
