Figured I'll add this one as well. I thought I'd try my hand at a set of these "adoptables" and it turns out it's actually a small business!

Deer I did for animation class. We simply got the assignment to animate a 1 second loop of whatever we wanted. So I picked one of my favorite animals .

And a speedpaint commission. Character is not mine.

This thread is so awesome. I'm adding this to my bookmarks!

Here is a creature I did recently using Artrage Studio Pro. I call it Cuddles but it is a Land Shark... or Lark.

A bird probably couldn't evolve that way, too specialized. But it's a very plausible dinosaur.

    laser shark

I think that deviantart is more or less a gathering of furries. Any picture of Sonic the Hedgehog kissing Tails gets way more views than anything I've done.

I'm an amatuer and this is my first post. May I have a few critiques?

Thanks you and everyone's art has been a dream to look at. Great job everyone.

    Moss Imps

One of my first digital art pieces, i like it the most of the few i've done so far. The inspiration for this came straight away as i've been walking my dog in a park where was a place with twisted tree roots and my imagination did the rest, so i almost saw the imps sitting under the tree, watchin' me suspiciously.
    Feedback will be appreciated.

Sorry for the double-post on the deer, these kind of belonged together though and I was too lazy to split the image:

Would you kill me if I told you they look sort of like pokemon, if the creators still cared enough to make all of the designs good?

Here's a couple of mine, while I'm here.

Hampster-bear creature. (Original concept art: http://i44.tinypic.com/se96qe.jpg)

Concept art for a 'nightmare' creature, called "The Master Hand"

Being here is so humbling! I have plenty more creatures but I am too shy to post anymore for now

Go to say I'm loving this, I have a thing for simple graphical styles like this. Handdrawn and coloured in photoshop?

Hi all, where do you draw your inspiration from in creating your creatures? Existing animal/hybrids, mythology, ect.. Or just you own imagination. Anyway everything looks great!

Yes. Nature / evolution is the greatest designer. Most of us draw inspiration from existing creatures / prehistoric creatures. If you look closely at a good creature design, ANY good design, you'll find that it is merely a grafting of body parts from existing creatures, with small variations like size / length / angle / color.

If you tried to make a creature completely from scratch. It would not be convincing. I suppose in real life, completely man-made creatures are machines. They are big, ugly, noisy things that just can't hold a candle to nature's elegance.

Anyway awesome creatures by everyone! I especially like L'hune's
