Wow, every image on this page is inspirational.

Jan that purple dog thing is my idol. Nice lines and colors, and design too.

Here is my drawing I did on the way to a concert.

wow guassian, those colors are super nice. Nice strokes too. Brightness looks fine to me. The only way I've found to sort of calibrate a monitor is to set the desktop to black(i guess anything you know is black would be fine) and adjust it until it looks like a true black, and make sure its right before it becomes not a true black. Monitor calibration sucks though, one of the many downs to digi art, colors and contrast are guaranteed to look different on most machines, but when work is badass like this thing you painted is, its all relative anyway, so it still looks cool. :]

I'm not really sure how to paint digitally. As I've said it, that's my second one.
What I did was just get the lines I had, creat the green back (which will blend in my webpage, since it's what it's meant to for, ultimately), decided I wanted two basic colors, green for the main skin (going along with the webpage background as well) and unsaturated yellow, like naples.
Laid down some fast colors with a large brush (first used digital airbrush, then a custom felt pen I created, following some instructions I found here, no buildup)
    I used painter
Then as I progressed I just kept reducing the brush size, so as to get more detail, while trimming here and there, fine tuning the overall design. I picked the red eyes because it is complementary to the green, I wanted tit to stand out.
I added some purple to the top head, and a hint to the shadows on the green areas, since purple goes well... and I thought that would unify it a bit more. Some beiges here and there and on the top of the head to unify with the yellowish are under the beast.
    These are the lines:

Anf this is the finished base image:

The eye part will be animated, so the tiny red eyes will pop sorta like in the lines, when the mouse goes over.
I'm almost done, and will post a link when done.
So as you can see, the finished is still faithful to the lines, but not bound to them.
For the colors I tend to pick either a simple analogous, split complementary or complementary scheme.
As far as the technical stuff behind it, I don't know what else. I hope it helps!!
Btw. One thing I've learned that helps a piece is elements that unify it. As you can see, I added the big "horn" like thing to the sides to balance the teeth out. The repetition of colors helps too.... once I establish a basic color on the canvas I generally just use the color picking tool to spread it all over, tweaking here and there. I also thought about adding more spikes, horns... but figured it'd be too much :afro1:
    But maybe not, who knows.

A few more things worth mentioning and a few caps of the progress...
    I scanned the drawing.
Then I refined it with a gouache brush (cause I like the opaque quality) and changed it a bit to fit the look I really wanted to go for... since my basic sketched just capture the idea.
Then I wanted to do some complex stuff to the background, adding lots of textures, colors, etc... but realized it would take away from the silouette. So I went back to a simple yellow. In the end I made it lighter, with a basic texture... so the drawing itself would stand out.
    here are the caps:

I used a little clear impasto also to create a few small bumps, craters, cracks and scratches to the skin.
Then at the very end I started sharpening everything up.
When I decided to start painting, I copied the layer in which I had drawn the outline of the design, painted on top of the copy and used the other one at about 10-15% opacity on top as gel... for my own reference, in the beginning. But don't get too bound to the design, if you see something worth changing just do it. If it's risky, of course, use a new layer. I don't know if any of this helps.

Jan...funny you should ask, because it sort of was. It doesn't really look anything like me, though I tried sorta, with no reference. It was more a theory about what happened to me(people in general) more than anything else.

RICH IS BACK AND OWNZORING :clapping1 :fruit:

Here is the 2nd one. Im going to do one more along this theme...the last one Im working on and it disturbs me and makes me a little sikish.

Hey, thanks Guassian, I alway like all the painterly detail you put in your work, you doing that by hand with small brush?

Heres something I been working on in my spair minutes at work.

    Cool man, that's looking great!

Yeah, the painterly stuff in the paintings is usually by hand, with a few textured strokes on top in the end
    here's a new sketch I've just finished, I'm on a fantasy streak
    about 45min in photoshop
