heheh...Im working on a Tycoon game right now, so I sorta feel the same way. I get to practice colors and building objects, but it sure isnt making creatures or even people for a living. You only want to do freelance? Seems like a game co. would hire you as concept artist to me...You ever send stuff to Wizards of the Coast? I'm thinking of trying in the next few months or so. That shit would be great...John F says he will give me some names if I get a site together !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PUDDING!..DUDE! just checked your sketchbook..environments and colors...so...beautiful.
Your game (FABLE) is looking so damn amazing.

The best I know is that the stuff for Magic cards needs to look "painterly". Thats seems to be 'in' right now. Tegehel from CArt lives near me, and thats what he was telling me anyway, he has some work with them. Jon Foster also lives near me, and he was saying that White Wolf is a good place to start doing free lance painting work, they make card games too. They pay less though. If you dont know Jon's work (www.jonfoster.com), you should check it out, because hes probably one of the best(in my opinion) illustrators they have, although I don't really know many of them by name at all. He said that you should have about 10-12 really nice paintings you can show them in your portfolio, and you might get an offer if they like you. Then its just freelance work, you paint/draw a rough, send it to them, they tell you what to fix, you paint it, they tell you what to fix, blabla. I'd be freakin stoked if I could get a job with Games Workshop. They are owned by WOTC, I think, and they tend to need concept artists and people who can sculpt cool miniatures in Epoxy. I ben spending a lot of time lately checking out all the miniatures on the games workshop site. All those miniatures really inspire me.

Nice 2 page answer. Ty. hehehe.

aright, heres what Ive been workin on... I guess I have to say this was hugely inspired by Adrian Smith and a lot of the Games Workshop art. Cant get it out of my head lately.

    PLEASE GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS.

Here are the roughs I did at Kinkos that dint get thrown away...trying to find a pose I like...at this point Im going with the two at bottom

2 more roughs in sketchbook..trying to nail it down...

I changed the pose cuz the other one wasn't exciting enough, I guess, just didnt like the stiffness of the pose.

I found that my design outgrew my sketchbook, wanted to add some foreground images, due to the nagging in my head that it needed it. So I trace the whole thing on to some 17inch traceing paper. Mech pencil on trace is fun. I found quite a few things to change, mostly minor, I found lots of tangents that could be removed and some perspective mistakes. I still dont love the axe handle shape...not sure whats wrong with it.

Deffinately going to paint this...Hopefully going to model it. I feel like if I pull it off it could mean some jobs. Most importantly jobs doing what I want. Im trying to get *fun* freelance going.

Thanks for looking and any help you can give.

Mephisto: I like your sketch but I have one problem. The shape of the axe handle makes the axe head look to heavy for it. Aside from that I like your level of detail and the foreground you added looks sharp.
    Heres some of mine.
Happy guy and the Vagina monster

and Im not sure what these guys are
