Hey conceptart.org, longtime lurker here. I have been inspired over the years by so many great people that have given themselves over to art, and to studying, and to quote marko, i don't want to be a "turd" anymore. I've started and stopped a few sketchbooks over the years, but this summer i have nothing but time, and i feel more serious than ever. I will try to keep my own promises and draw everyday for as long as I can, and post every day too. Here it goes! I might start posting personalish stuff eventually, but for now I think it will just be studies and things.
Newest study down here....and new stuff on the last page!

What smooth, luscious lines you have! I also think it wonderful that you know when you've gone wrong - it's an essential skill, really. Can't wait to see more studies. I've started doing these myself, partly (well.. wholly) as procrastination, and there is little more satisfying than filling out pages with nice little sketches!
Great start! Summer is a long time and you can go far on this foundation.
thanks for commenting Jansi! you have amazing studies in your thread O_O thanks for liking my lines, means a lot.
here is some poop from today, nothing i am really happy with about these but, on to the next batch! i am going to do some more rendered stuff next.

the other books I am studying from are "Artistic Anatomy" and 2 nude figure books.
speaking of hogarth, that is all the studying I got to today... my friend sort of came over without any notice, and we sat around playing video games all day. I only managed to draw for a few hours. I can't explain to you how uch I never want to sit on a couch playing video games ever again
i draw a lot from imagination throughout the day, but its still looking like complete poop, once i come up with something that is at least so-so i will definitely post it
there are 2 dots on my scanner screen, i cant seem to get them off, they are totally screwing with my scans...but ill try to work on that.
drew all day today, wasnt really happy with any of my studies, but here they are anyway : / I am constantly trying to work on my mark making, and accuracy of line. I want to be able to render like algenpfleger does, with very controlled cross hatches...i always end up using a very smooth circle technqiue with no life to it...but im going to keep working on that! more studies tomorrow!
but yeah these are all shit, i think i was just mindlessly doing these, listening to things, watching movies on commentary, and i wasnt actually thinking about what i was doing. poope. tomorrow! i will do the best yet!

took a day off yesterday to, had to recharge i guess, i only drew for about 3 hours. it feels good to take almost a whole day off and then get going again, i always seem to draw much better (at least i think i do).
some stuff from imagination is in there, its pretty poopy...but because of the GoldenBoy of the week and Goldenboy of the month competition (through crimson daggers) i figured i would have to start posting some imagination stuff! so from now on ill post one or two pages....gonna draw some more before i sleep, then up at seven!
tried to be a lot faster today, well not exactly faster but looser, and i want to have more fun! i was looking at Jason Hong's sketchbook, and i really love his style...anyway off to bed, up early tomorrow to start again! oh yeah, dribbled some tea on the 2 hour long self portrait i was working on...what can you do though?
third one down, the left breast is wayyy off...and i posted an imagination page that i thought was semi successful...of course...still total poop. i want to be good (someday....someddayyyy....gotta keep going)
Well I'm definitely coming back here! Do me a favour though, stop calling your stuff "poop" unless poop means high quality work!?!, they are really good and it gives a bad impression to put them down like that (imo).
Lots of great studies and dedication, exquisite shading too.
Do you draw from life? It would be great to see you outside sketchingrandom people, gestures and poses of people in the street... just a thought.
These are super good! I'm jealous of your pencil skillz. I wanna see some from imagination stuff!!! =D
Dayle hey thanks a lot for stopping by! yeah, i always think my stuff is poop, and my work ethic too. i keep Algenpfleger's sketchbook up all day, as a reminder of what it really takes to become a pro...so if i feel like i didnt work hard enough that day, i think everything i do is poop haha. but thanks for stopping by again, oh and yes, i do draw from life, but i am sort of a hermit at the moment, no car and i live kinda far out from a town...not a lot of people around to watch/draw. im going to start drawing from life though. ill attempt to keep bringing you back! thanks for your interest!
Yefim hey thanks! i just looked at your blog O_O im jealous of your painting skillz! and, for you, ill post some imagination stuff this round.
i did a really low amount of work within the past day. i was doodling a lot, drawing from some ref, but just trying to make better lines overall. i did way more pages of imagination stuff than studies....not good. ill get back on track tomorrow....theres some stuff from magazines, anatomy books, eyes from life/hands from life, and some graffiti from a book....im going to do more of that i think, its fun
only a few for today, i'm going somewhere for the night, hopefully back fairly early tomorrow so i can get back to drawing.
stuff from life, the last page of legs is from head, and the last 2 are photo studies. \\

great studies! keep it up
rem92 hey thanks a lot!
ive been away for a few days, visiting family and stuff. here's what i've managed to do in the last few days. studies from life, anatomy books, magazines, uhhh, other things. trying to get faster, ive realized how slow i am at most things within the last few days. thats no good!
i stopped working on the second knight because i realized how off my lines were...gotta work on that.
Damn! Where'd you learn to render? I love it! My one thing I'll say is, try to fill up more of the spaces on your pages! You can definitely fit more stuff there! Other than that, keep up the great work!

mitchoo thanks a lot, i really dig your characters and your lines on your website. good stuff, thanks for the comment!
Not_Deadman thanks for the compliment man! its crazy to have someone say i have good rendering skills...ive opened up a few sketchbooks on here, and never got a compliment on it before. and ive just been studying a lot! and trying to be slow. oh and yeah, youre right about filling up pages. i tend to do something that i think is ok, and i dont want to ruin it by doing something poopy. i tried to be a little more conscious of that this time around.
kimozabbi thanks a lot!
bish0p2004 thanks bishop!
i didnt do too much studying the last couple days i was focusing more on imagination work...which has been poopy so i didnt scan most of them in. but here are some imagination pages(with some wesburt face studies on one of them, sorry for butchering wes ) but most are the studies that i did too...been trying to work on clothes, and getting more interesting marks.
MBK thanks a lot for your comment man, means a lot.
some studies from the last few days here. anatomy books, naked people books, photo studies, wes/phil lietz copies, hands from life and from books, and i think just one page from imagination at the end.
