    sketchbook GO!

Hey everyone. I've been lurking around for a while, and thought I'd start my own thread.

I no longer live in a place with a drawing crowd, so I don't have access to advice and asskickings or even art discussion. Hopefully, I can get some that here. I feel like I'm drawing in a void.

--edit to try to change my thumbnail.

Sorry about the shadow on the one. My sketchbook doesn't quite fit on the scanner.

This one didn't show up in the last post. It's possible I'm messing up this attachment manager.

Hey, lovely pen and ink work. Good tonal variation and the hatching looks pretty darn solid, your forms seem a bit lumpy on the ink bottle still life, but it gives it good character.

Do you usually draw directly with pen?

Good stuff, hope to see more soon!

I was recently given a fountain pen that I'm trying to get more comfortable with. My regular pen holding habits aren't working so well with it.

AustenFM:Thanks for the response. Sometimes I lightly pencil in overall shapes. To make sure I get the right number of octopi legs and such. I'm trying to draw direct more atm. Trying to commit to lines and make them look more confident.

Thought I'd put something up with a bit of color. Painted from reference found online.

And a bunch of thumbnails for a personal project that has mostly fallen by the wayside.

Chiming in to the Kraken+Raven application. Really nice rendering! I wish I could possess the same amount of control over pens.

I really enjoy your thumbnail sketches. I think it takes a great deal to express so much with very little line and space.

Got a bit lost drawing the turkey face at the bottom.

I like animals that are sort of beautiful but also sort of monstrous looking.

    Thanks everyone!
