What an amazing sketchbook. I loved the first page stuff, and then was amazed by the rest of the pages. Love the colors and brushstrokes you put down

Heres a lighting and color exercise. 4 simple cubes in various lighting scenarios.

    1. sunny
    2. overcast
    3. night with a few fireflies around it
    4. rainy night (light coming from street light off frame)

This latest cube exercise fascinates me. You did a great job capturing the different lighting moods. I like the added white stripe on the cube, too. Your renderings and sketches are amazing as well! Really love everything I've seen in your SB.

    Keep up the great work!

A gouache and acrylic study of some mountains by Edgar Payne. Original Here.

What I need to work on:

    - Edge quality is too similar throughout, flattens image
-Background mountains temperature and saturation too similar to foreground, flattens image.
-level of detail too similar throughout the image, flattens image.

Overall. the image is much flatter and graphic then the original. Gotta keep this in mind.

I am glad I stumbled into this sketchbook. The plein air stuff is lively, but that barbarian steals the show—very concrete but playful forms!

some great pieces you have here, and in fact a great sketchbook in general. Definitely hope you keep it up, and I can see your progress through animation school!

I do have one crit, and that would be for the cube exercise. Dont forget the blue influence of the sky and the warmer (slightly) of the ground planes. Im sure you know about that, but perhaps just overlooked it this time. If not, there are some great lighting observations by james gurney over on his blog about plein air painting. Which reminds me, that gouache painting was really nice - something Ive not tried myself but I will soon after seeing this!

    Keep it up!

Nice works here - especially some of the early figure gestures - great flow and rhythms to them!

Ive been having great fun this summer break getting out and painting. I visited the zoo yesterday and painted these. Random kids and parents seemed as interested in my sketching as the animals themselves.

Love that pencil sketch at the top of the page and the watercolors, they're very lively. Also, that last page with the resting animals is great! Great line quality on them, keep it up!

    Great sketchbook!

I like how you approach your gestural drawing as construction. Did you do them from a model or from imagination?

I envy you for having time off to go outside and sketch too
