Thought I'd start a thread for us lot over here. We've all been discussing meeting up in another thread anyway, but this way new ppl from the UK may view this thread more so we'll catch their attention.

HI I’m from the UK... Derby to be more specific
dancing and drawing!
hey nice idea to add a new whole new sub-forum for this. ^-^
well, i'm in. i'll be able to saty at my dads house. the coach trip will be the only thing that will cost a lot, but it should be fine.
i was wondering if my brother could come too? i didnt really want him to come, but he sulked for an hour so i decided to ask! i felt guilty ^-^
he's 15. he just joined here as Meta, he'll be posting later maybe.
anyway, i hope its not a problem. if we go to any bars, will i be able to be his guardian or something?
anyway, i cant wait for this. discs79, lol we dont need to see your portfolio for you to join, artists of all levels can join ^-^, nice work though
do you every hang out at Flashkit.. I recognise your Avatar
dancing and drawing!
Yeah I'm switching between the two at the mo... I find more inspiration here...
I tend to use Flashkit to find interesting news stories and watch the older members argue about Iraq and the plite of the world!
dancing and drawing!
I'm waiting for confirmed dates
discs79 - niiiiice stuff man, lurve the camojacket
cartoonfox - brothers more than welcome...
Schlo-mo - was the dates the 1st weekend in May? If so, I'm up for that, tho I'm not too sure if MayDay protest is going ahead...I'm confirmed whatever mate ^_^
If not 1st or 2nd of May is cool
29th or 30th - it's a bank holiday weekend...
30th(after 6:30), the 1st all good for me. I dont have the friday off. Im very keen to meet you guys.
One other thing.... where? Nat history museum is great for sketching creatures, etc... science museum for technical stuff... coffee shop for... well, coffee and talking shite. And sketching between espresso's. (too many and the only thing ya can draw is trees...)
anyways, what do you all think? I can submit a vote if we cant make up our minds... which is inevitable.
Im in London....hello fellow UK'ers!
You need to do more anatomy...and check your values....wait...did I just say that?
milton keynes for me ooh yea...in door snow boarding central.
Sketchling - If you wanna meet Friday after 6.30, I'll meet up wit ya? A poll sounds good too...
1st of May is a Saturday. We could all meet out side either:
British Museum - near Tottenham court road, (plenty of cafes, bars'n'pubs) The John Soane Museum; also a little walk to the Nat Portrait Museum, Trafalgar Sq etc
Nat History Museum - close to the V&A & the Science Museum
I'd suggest we keep our first meeting simple, bring sketchbooks to show while introducing ourselves. Then go and do at least 1-2 hrs work??? In a museum??? Meet back up then go for a bite, drink???
What do you all think?
PLEASE state what your keen on doing....??? Discs? Schlo-mo? Cartoonfox? Dirty_C? Tomoscopic? Kim-L? Lowpolymatt? Makafui?
i'll Pm a few others...

Mollyx : Im keen for fri night coffee or something. Im working in soho, on wardour street, livin in southfields/wimbledon, so anywhere between the two is the best for me, but can gladly travel otherwise. Can maybe think up some idea's for the next day or whatever (like a daily-sketch type thing). I carry my sketchbook with me as standard, so drawings always an option .
As for where... its all good. British museum has a very wide variety of ancient stuff which is gorgeous to draw. Id vote that way. Its close to the national gallery too, but I doubt we will have time for more than just the B-museum... its HUGE.
I recon we could just go and sketch, or we could have a concept-idea we need to research. like Ancient starship, or something more origional... or a choice of a few. One tends to do more when you have something to go on though...
anyways, lookin forward to it!
I'm skint at the mo, can't make the first....
dancing and drawing!
yeah, im in MPC - The Moving Picture Company. link
Im not in the movie department though. Im in the advertising/documentary section. Matte painting concentration camps at the moment... (having just finished doing facial textures for hitler...)
All good fun I say.
*sigh* I'm sad to say ... I can't make it next week for the meet. But, I hope you guys have loads of fun. Maybe I'll make it on the next meet!
The Art of Kim Loh
Well, the austin group is meeting weekly. That's a bit much for an area this size, but what about if we tried to nominate a weekend every month? I'm finding myself getting a bit un-motivated just now, and i know come the austin con ,we're all gonna be jealous as hell!
Too much? Attendance not mandatory, of course, but if we make it a regular thing, we can always just confirm whether we're making it or not..
Hey, this should all be going in the official thread, just so you know:
Girls and Guys,
WHEN: 1st MAY 2004
WHERE: outside the NATIONAL GALLERY, Trafalger Square.
Nearest tube, Charing Cross & Leicester Square. Theres also the National Portrait round the corner, so we have a good choice of places to visit.
Please confirm, Yes or No,
*Kim-L* - we'll defo have another meet, so you best come along to that one girlie!
PM me if your up for it!!!!

Its gonna rock. I may have 2 artist friends of mine coming along too. dont know for sure yet though.
Brilliant! Are we gonna make a daily concept thing out of it too?
- Hey Sketchling, the more the merrier...
Daily Concept thang? I see why not - what do you have in mind?
Other UK People - you all out there?
My mobile: 07932 907 779 - dirty_c - you got this number already, Cartoonfox and bro? Tomoscopic?
its the thing I mentioned earlier in the forum.. with like a theme... like a daily sketch 'two words' thing where we have a goal in mind. eg an alien portrait and go to the national portrait gallery... Get idea's from there and do a concept sketch using influences from images in the gallery.
MAybe im just thinking too much, but a theme tends to allow ppl to tether their brains to something and then let the creativity run wild.
This is going to be cool Even if tiny, its all good!
- nah Sketchling you aint thinking too much - thats a cool idea!!!
We've got the National Portrait and British Museum round the corner from each other, so there's nuff influence there to work on.
About your alien idea - we should try it!? How about fantasy creature too??? (duh, same thing?) Do some sketching ourselves throughout the day, at prefered museum, then taken what we've all done, find a nice bar/pub sit down and let our imaginations go wild????
About MSN messenger - I'm at work, and they frown like grumpy bastards upon all that - BUT! I shall endeavour to put it on my machine anyhoo... now, where'd you get yours from/ where can I download... blah blah blah
hello lads and lasses
I hope to be there. It'd be great to meet y'all. Who's wearing the carnation in their lapel?
Well... dunno about a carnation, but ill be wearing a t-shirt with a manga robot on it most likley... lots of curly hair and always a pair of hiking boots. 07905 275 615 if you need to echo-locate me. K
