About an hour each, this is enough for me today. I've managed to fuck up my eyes again. Can't see what I'm drawing...

Give them a chance to relax: turn off the lights, and rest a cold flannel on them for a while. Also, having your screen brightness turned way down will help stopping it happening again.

glam - Looking great man, I like how loose and free your sketches are. I like the staff designs, especially the one on the far right with the skull, very Shaman-y.

Ros1 - Awesome start, the lighting off that glowing skull is going to look awesome. Great pose too.

filled in the fire mage. getting pretty close to being done - wave and fire are still in basic form, so gotta get those rendered out, as well as the water mage's staff. time for a few hours of sleep...

Wow, lots of good entries on show. I'd forgotten how much fun CHoW was.

Another update, complete with placeholder background! There's not too much left to do on the character. It needs some bounce light, possibly some pattern details, and work on the edges. I've been pathologically rendering the character as a way to delay thinking about/working on the background. I put the 'pro' in procrastination (my apologies to anyone who read that).

Leaving tomorrow for florida. Two day drive. =P Anyway, I unfortunately won't be able to finish this. What I have so far. I think I'm still going to mess around with it between now and Sunday, see how far I can get.

I added a bag and some vials around her waist. I figured a light mage would be a preserver of life and would be able to wip up some magic reserves for helping people and animals along her path.

    Mr. Gadbury

Hey I like your mage a lot and I thought I could put some tiny suggestions in for you. I think the leg stuff is a little TOO clunky and its taking away both the femininity from her legs, and the overall gesture/shape of them. So I slimmed them down a bit.

Her stance is a little confusing. If shes ready for battle, then why is she standing like shes waiting at the bus stop?

Then i threw in some blowing snow..rain..whatever..and implied some water is moving around her feet so she looks more powerful or at least the image is mroe dramatic.

Ok use or leave any of my paintover. You're doing a good job regardless. The way the fabric is clinging to her is stupendous.

EDIT: I also moved her breasts down a smidge. Theyre a bit high right now

So many people here have such an awesome way with color. It adds so much liveliness. I just can't seem to capture that same spark.

Man, so much great stuff! Comments for people on the latest page, hope I didn't miss anyone:

Paolo13 - totally loving these, though I think the earth one is mz favorite

Reedux - digging the matching mask and staff

fox - very dramatic, I like it

Ros1 - I second the nice lighting comment. Love the glowy skull

Pat Thompson - Nice work on the fire mage, I can't quite figure out what's on her staff though

DBed - Really diggin this; he looks like a supervillain of some sort

Dranyer - I really like the ones for air, but the fire ones are pretty cool too

Jolen - very nice mood you have here

Matthew - loving the color palette of this one

Penpoint - I like how the armor turned out; he looks pretty formidable

Inflame - me too Yours is shaping up quite nicely though

Partisan - loving your color scheme as well

LibertineM - looks good, though, all the blue made me initially think she was a water mage

Quinn Simoes - Man, that is sick. I love it

Suneater - Looks good. I'm a total sucker for characters with white hair. Is the mandala at the back connected to the staff/blade, or is it part of the background?

Mr. Gadbury - Very nice. I really like the way you designed the boots.

    MJ_Alcazar - that's a pity, it's turning out pretty good

Mmmkay, so I decided to change direction entirely, since the life-earth connection was a bit tricky for my previous character. I've decided to go for a water mage instead. Hope today I manage to get some colors in at least, else I might not finish as well

Hello there. Long time lurker, first time contributor. Everyone is doing really amazing so far... It's pretty intimidating!

Here's my interpretation of the light mage. Still a WIP, but I hope to finish it by the deadline. Constructive Criticism always appreciated

I'm getting a late start but I figure I'll at least try my hand and this round. Hopefully I can find time to paint it.
