    Bear rider (colour critque needed)

Hi, this started out as a speed painting, but I want to take this further. I really can't make the colours work somehow though. The red kinda feels out of place.

Any suggestions, feedback, paintovers are highly appreciated

    Thank you very much

Not being a colour afficiando myself this is simply a gut reaction but the orange-red is the only non-neutral colour.

Also, the sky, but that's not colour-related so yeah.

ok since someone else said something then yeah, the sky, horizontal strokes work better.

Maybe it's the blue of the sky that's fighting it out with the orange.

Still no idea what I'm talking about

Oh watch out when youre using the grass symbol brush... its easy for people to see how it was done and it was easy to do, maybe try horozontal lines in the sky as opposed to vertical lines, otherwise its a good painting.

    Its an awesome rough.
But you said it yourself... you would like to take this further which
leads me to believe this would belong better in the WIP Forum.

I agree, this is a very good start. Good characterisation of the rider and big, bulky mass to the bear's anatomy.

I don't see any flaws in your color choices. There could be a few more saturation points but not much. I think it would be most improved if you push the values more. With a cloudless, blue sky it looks like it should be noon, and you need more deep darks and high brights to make that work. Your color and value combination suggests dusk, instead.

    colors

the colors dont look bad but maybe try some browns and dark greens give it a more camouflage feel to it.
