    Question Olympia Area?

I think its great there are other artists on the forum who live in Washington. I go to school at the Art Institute of Seattle, but i live down in Lacey. near Olympia. Do any other artists in the forum live in this area, and if so can we get something going down here?

Question Illustration courses recommended in this area?

    Hey Local Crew,

Archie's comment about the Art Institute of Seattle brought up a recent wish to take some more illustration classes. Sure, having a Master degree in medical illustration sounds like I should be bad ass, but straightup, I have a lot to learn and am open to thoughts (even AIS if it is good, Archie) from yoos guys out there. I'd like to keep it to Seattle or the surrounding cities (e.g. Kirkland, Bellevue) if at all possible.
One last thing - this new interface threw me for a complete loop...didn't think I was in Kansas anymore.

Xia, doodles and scribbles? Your recent work on your site is more than just doodles and scribbles. By the way, how and where do you create your "scribbles"? Are they all paint or are they digital paint in a program? I really like the way it looks, and i want to try new things. My drawings are mostly in pencil, and im sort of getting into Prismacolor markers. I dont have the talent for color as you do. You and Bengal have some amazing talent with color, and mixing paint. (Or digitally mixing paint is probably a little easier..?) Please reply.

I'm up for some sketching! I'll bring the large herbivores and special treats. I'm in Wallingford so anywhere in Seattle works great for me. Can't wait to meet all the local talent!

    Exclamation July 9 - I'm in.

    Hey Prostate, et al.
Still on for Friday, July 9.
I liked Nova's location for Aurafice in Capitol Hill. I walked past it and found it to be pretty slick - just like the photos on their web site suggest.
Let's confirm a time that works well for as many as possible.
I'm a distance runner/aspiring triathelete, so I don't stay out late on Fridays due to training events held on the following morning.
That said, I'll probably make myself leave at approx. 11, but will try to be on site at 8-ish. I'll have sketchbook in hand -- something I RARELY carry around with me and will actually attempt being creative. Dare to dream.
    Cheers,
    D

Yes, a capital idea on Capitol Hill. Anyone that went to Austin going to this gathering? I'd love to see what you learned and or see any goodies you have returned with.

I went to Austin, I will be there. I'll bring the sketchbook I took with, but not the big Marko drawing I snagged...its too big and...sentimental for me to lug it along.

Jetpack- thanks for the heads-up. I did meet you in Austin. Nova, too.

I'll try to make it. No promises. My drawing skills are pretty stale but I'm hoping to get back into it. It'd just be cool to meet some of y'all. Summer is a pretty crazy time in these parts, but if we can keep this alive into mid-fall I think we'll start seeing some consistant attendance. And that'd be cool.

jetpak 42 showed me this (thanks again!). Friggin' coolio. I'll try to be there, but like I told jp 42, I have a new little girl, so might be hard for me to get there. On a side note, both Prsotrate Sunrise and Xia smell, so might be wise to leave them at home (just kidding boys, you know I love you )

Thanks for your kind words I went to AIS about 3 years ago. Sorry, reply a lil late. I am getting into markers myself about a week ago. It's a quick way to learn value and doing thumbs or comp. Now I am currently working with Kakai (AKA Prostate ...) and Levi (AKA Genital Eclipse...) (hate them bastard kids!)
And of course DougBot (AKA Meankid) *he always take my lunch money*

    Anyway,
Still on for Friday, July 9. Aurafice in Capitol Hill! 8:00 PM.

I will spread the words around any art session...some kids went to Austin too. Ben somethin....they will be interested to get together.
