A book cover for a friend. Title and blurb omitted hence the areas with nothing much in them...

Gorgeous paintings over the last two years, collected in this adorable sketchbook. Improvement
surely visible, you are capturing some major happenings from real life, in an admirable fashion.
Interesting subjects and excitement all around. As for suggestion, I would say that you should try
to paint more greyscale, to get the hang of values and contrast more. Reference other artists and
try to understand how they solves certain problems and issues. Do life drawings also as much as
you can, so you could bring more realistic feeling to your pieces. You just keep on rolling with
the flow, and have a happy new year.

    Thank you LtPlissken!

On the theme of greyscale pictures, here is a picture of my daughter Emily, aged one. This was painted in photoshop with a custom chalk brush.

That is an adorable painting, the eyes are a bit over contrasted,
and dark compared to the rest of the painting
but overall itís a stellar work. You should do more like this,
and post them as soon as you can. I gathered a few people
in my backyard, they are curiously waiting your next update.

Another picture of my daughter, using photo reference. I think the proportions are pretty good again, but certainly not perfect (I see differences when I overlay this picture and the ref, but didn't want to change anything based on that).

It is my daughters second birthday soon. She is very much into dinosaurs, so my wife and I decided to make a book for her, in which she is the main character, along with her favourite toy and a pterosaur. I'm not worrying about which dinosaurs co-existed so there will be creatures from both Jurassic and Cretaceous. Its meant to be a bit of fun

Here are the first three pages (still a work in progress, and I hope to colour them eventually too):

Well, the book is pretty much finished now. I'm reasonably pleased with the result. There are things I would change, and improve, still but I'm simply out of time

The main thing, of course, is that my daughter likes the book. She keeps asking to read it on the computer, so hopefully she will like the print copy too!

This is old stuff that I might have already posted elsewhere...

Something I was working on for some time but eventually decided I didn't like the composition:

I started this a good few months ago now, but only just returned to polish it off. My daughter loves the fact she is riding on a dinosaur

Yes, it is reminiscent of a Dinotopia scene, but not intentionally. I started this before I came across Dinotopia but have since got the book and James Gurneys fantastic "Imaginative Realism" book which I wholeheartedly recommend to each and every one of you

I love the book for your daughter! That is the perfect gift I think. Such a great idea. She'll be so happy.

Hi! Very cute stuff on this last page . Shame you haven't been posting more, it'd be nice to see more of your works. They've reached a more refined look about them, but it's subtle. With that being said, I can't really think of any advice that would be more helpful than those that have already been said...Working on your values and with higher contrast/ desaturated areas for focal points and more depth.
    Hopefully I'll see more soon? ^ __^

Thank you Pou! I'm glad you see some improvement I post stuff here when I create it, but I really don't get much time to draw or paint currently.

Value is definitely where I want to try and improve at the moment. I think that is really where my work falls down at the moment.
