Thread: Drawrings of Creatures and Such!
October 27th, 2011 #66
I agree with logistic puppet. Very nice entry. Good design.
I'll nag a bit too, cause I know you want to get better. The thing I think you could push more in next pieces is more realistic perspective. In this piece it looks like we are viewing the creature slightly from below. It's head is higher than us, but oddly we can still see it straight from the side. Also where is the left leg of the second pair? It might hide behind it's body, but you could still give us slight hint of that.
Still, good progression man. Looking forwards for new stuff.

logistic_puppet: Thnx a lot dude, I'm very pleased with how it turned out, I actually don't do to many studies, but before working on that cow I did a few landscape studies, which are on the previous page, and sort of worked a study into my cow entry.
ismo: Thnx for the crit! The hind leg was one of those things that I felt, meh noone will notice....guess not, lol.
snatti: Hey thanks for the visit dude!
Update, showing some wips...The dryad for Chow, only had about two days to work on it because internet was down for most of the week, but I'm pushing myself to finish it anyways. So far looks decent, background needs a little more work still, plus design needs to be improved a bit more, but it's all on the way. Also [Thnx to The7Artist7 for reminding me] a quick doodle of Spidey and Venom, probably my favourite superhero/villian rivalry. Doing this for the Dynamic Energy Super Good Guys thingy...':/ Going for a super dynamic perspective shot, apart from a few proportion errors here and there and Venom's horrible looking hand it looks decent, only problem is what to do for a background...

GoldenSerpent: Appreciate you stopping by, man! Glad you liked my black beauty, and thanks for the vote on my latest!
The7Artist7: It's all good, didn't really work on it any further so you can post to the poll as is. Thnx for letting me partake, was fun, and hopefully if I manage to get it finished will turn into a nice piece of fan art!
here's my entry for the Godzilla monster cow, at first I wanted to do something kinda ridiculous like a giant mutant pidgeon, but eventually went with something more badass, like a snapping turtle, quite pleased with the results! Got kinda lazy with the glowing aspects of the image, originally had glowing cracks and whatnot on it's skin, but didn't really like the way it was looking, plus it kinda ruined to form a bit, so glowing eyes it is...though I kinda liked the way the eye looked without, so I uploaded a detail shot of the head without the glowing eye...

Posting some practise stuff, y'know that kind of stuff I don't do so often that I should be doing more often, but recently was playing the new zelda game and loving it...anyways here's some portrait sketches, for some reason old wrinkled dudes are more appealing to draw portraits of, and forced myself to draw a younger woman as well...also some stuff I've done for IDW that I was not able to really get into but still cool to build up some ideas...

The creature design in here is amazing, really like it, the last COW is your best one yet i'd say, the background looks rlly good, i like how you rendered the clouds, and the lighting effect on the creature itself its really convincing, though id like to see more human figures!

@rem92: thnx for stopping by man, agree about more human figures though...need to do more chows ;P
Some hand sketches, wanted to do more but was caught up in each oneand they took about three times longer than what I was going for, but was pretty fun drawing these anyways...really need to get into more sketching, that's something that has trailed further away since I really got into digital painting...the better the drawings the better the foundations to work with in painting, basically...I keep telling myself this, but sometimes I just get too lazy...and sometimes I spend way too much time doing the foundations that I get scared to start painting for fear that I may mess it up...that really affects how I work sometimes...anyways here's the hand sketches before this small rant turns into an essay about me bitching about myself... o.O
