Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Decided to start posting my sketchbook stuff here for feedback. I've been drawing for less than a year now. It's been a slow start trying to digest all the information I've found online and in books.
I'm going to post the good and the bad.....
A generic head in profile:
Another generic head:
Lucy Liu for some reason:
My neice Olivia:
Goofy picture of myself:
And a cave:
I did this painting in ArtRage Pro Studio 3:
For that last one, I think the only real issue is everything is equally dark for the most part (at least on my screen) there's a little tiny tiny light scattered here and there but my eye wasn't drawn to it. There's no real focal point to rest the eye on it seems. Also composition wise the eye gets directed off the page.
Read your other thread on frustration working from imagination. I'd suggest just popping in some music, then loosely drawing whatever you can. For me I often start with a face or figure because thats what I have the most practice in. Then just see if you can work up from that. Drawing from imagination is just a fun, free expression personally I enjoy just seeing what it becomes. Don't get too worked up about getting a masterpiece out right away lol. Some will be crap, but as you go along you'll come across some where you'll step back and think.... Hmm..... not bad.
Yea, for some reason that paintint doesn't look the sam as it does on my monitor. Seems drab.. Thanks for the advice!
My Neice Olivia:
Lucy Liu.... not sure why?
Generic Mans face:
And finally a goofy self portrait:
Hey man - yeah, saw the bugs and rock sketch - good start. Portraits are off to a decent start too. Just keep at it...that's the only real advice I can offer. You'll find your own path depending on who you like and what your goals are. Is there a junior college in your area where you could take some basic drawing classes? Might also look into a local art center or community art league. Good luck!
Welll it doesnt look as bad as u describe tho. Keep it up, if u r really a beginner like u say, i can see alot of effort in this. Well like anyone will say its never too late to start

Just saw your frustrative rant over in Art Discussion, ha. Dude, seriously you need not worry...you got a great start here. Those bug studies look cool I like the style on those. Portraits, man...yeah they are hard...but keep practicing and keep uploading and you will see your own improvement. Keep at it, you're on a good path!
Decent start mate, your rendering skills with graphite are pretty good, particularly in the images where you took more time to (painstakingly) render in pencil hehe. Though I think you need to go through some anatomy books and nail down the proportioning of your anatomy though, in the face etc.
I think you're off to a good start I especially like the insects that you posted. As for the portraits and things, just keep practicing! You'll get it. It takes time to learn to draw, just like any other skill.
