I gotta say your environment WIP looks pretty damn cool so far. I can tell it's going to be amazing when you finish it. Keep it up!

JohanneLight - Thanks so much That's really encouraging!

Dandylion - Thank you! I was sorta in process of giving up on it but I will be sure to continue if you think it has potential It's very kind of you to say so

Okaay, I decided to doodle without refs for a bit to see whether my studies were helping at all! haha. I'm quite pleased as there is a definite improvement, however as you can see I really need to return to the studies! I reeeally can't draw men!

Hey it's me again I really have been churning out tons over the last few days.. This is an exercise my sister came up with. The idea is to copy a figure from a ref. (I use pixelovely.com) and then to make a character out of it, therefore practicing anatomy and character design/imagination
Here's my first attempt.. it was fun, expect to see more of these!

EDIT: Oh dear.. I'm not very awake clearly.. the hands are back to front again -facepalm-

nice studies, its good to see you are improving in traditional and digital media... keep working like that : )

-We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

-Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.

Rem92- Thanks for the words of encouragement! It's very nice of you to say so! I definitely will

Just letting you guys know that I am going on holiday for 2 weeks now, which probably means I'll be drawing loads but I might not be able to upload it all, especially traditional work I do it is all depending on potential internet signal there! So hopefully I'll be able to find an internet cafe to upload some stuff! See you guys soon, thanks for all the lovely comments

haha thanks smileface! xD I have FINALLY finished scanning all the pages.. and I have decided that I do not have enough patience to do scanning! So here we go!
First is an illustration done with pencil for a book of poems
Then we have 50 studies done over 3 or 4 days using pixelovely (which i am going to upload over a few posts as not to overload the post!)

    Enjoy!

Great pose and gesture. I see you have been studying some of Andrew Loomis books but you may want to also look at George Bridgman books

There's definitely improvement in your figure drawing from the start of your tread .
Have you tried doing any Bridgeman studies? I found his books really helped me with volume and 3dimentonality.

Rhubix - Thanks That's encouraging to hear! I am planning on doing some Bridgeman studies when I get the chance!

Sorry no update in a while.. I've been mega busy.. I'm leaving for university in less than a week.. I have so much packing to do! Anyway for now, here is a quick digital photo study of my friend. The lighting's weird as he was on a webcam!

    Hi everyone! Okay..
Point number 1) I'm sorry I've been gone so long! I've been making the transition between living at home and going to uni for the first time.. anyone who's done it know it involves various states of disorganization, panic and drunkenness! Haha, still I seem to be over that now!

Point number 2) I'm at Uni now! Whoop! So that doesmean there is going to be NO shortage of work to upload.. I'm studying Design for Film and TV so while my main focus is my design projects, which incidentally will allow me to produce quite a few visuals and models which i will share, I also have Visual Communications, which gives me weekly drawing assignments!

Point Number 3) Talking of which, here is assignment number 1: Draw a person you know from memory! This is my boyfriend, and I promise no refs used! Haha

    Name: portrait from memory.jpg
Views: 118
Size: 240.1 KB

EDIT: In case you wanted to see what he actually looks like ( by the way.. no I don't know why he was pulling that face P: )

Okay I couldn't sleep and I wanted to draw something for me, rather than just studies and assignments.. here are a couple of progress composition sketches inspired by this weeks ChoW (: (for those who don't know, the theme is a supernatural detective, inspired by Film Noir) Somehow ended up quite steampunky!
