CHoW#240 :: Fairytales Retold - Red Riding Hood
Redesign one or more characters from Little Red Riding Hood.
DEADLINE: SUNDAY, April 17th 2011
Deadline is Sunday, at 9:00 pm (GMT+1) Check your timezone!
This week's challenge is a very special two week event! We would like you to come up with a whole new design for ONE or More the characters in the story, Little Red Riding Hood. This can be anything from setting it in a different time to changing the genre it's really up to you! Fairytales are also about the story as much as the characters in them so for this challenge, the illustration of the piece is just as important as the development of the character so plan your image carefully!!!. As always, images which are not well developed will not make it to the poll!
Choose one or more of these characters:Obviously there may be more than this, but we have to put a limit on it somewhere!
- Little Red Riding Hood
- The Wolf
- The Hunter
Things to remember:
- Think about the inllustration of the piece But do not forget the character design!
- Can be any setting (Modern, Steampunk, SciFi, Fantasy....)
- Can be any genre (Horror, Comic, Romance....)
- You have two weeks so we expect to see fully developed characters!
Good luck, and be creative!
How to Enter
About quality - as general rule: if your shapes and values are not decent - you are out. Watch proportions, perspective etc. we need perfectly readable shapes and coherent, consistent values.
BE PROFESSIONAL - only finished and good quality entries will be taken to the poll. Elixy and Parsakoira will make the selection.
Please review these helpful reminders if you have not done so already.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE YOUR COPYRIGHT INFORMATION UNDER THE IMAGE IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD SO I DON'T HAVE TO HUNT YOU DOWN LATER!
SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY:
1: You must submit ONE full sized image.
2: Make sure your name and CHOW # are EASILY READABLE on your entry.
3: Use the Standard format (Below);
PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC
SAVE YOUR FILE IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT:
THE REST IS EASY:
1: No comments before poll is set. They WILL be deleted with utmost malice and petty grumbling.
2: Sit back and enjoy the show. BYOPC (Bring your own popcorn)
3: Good luck to all.
Quick Check: Have You Submitted Your Chow Properly?
- is it named correctly? (ie, "CHOW#100_Oregano.jpg")
- has it been uploaded using the attachment editor?
- have you also uploaded or linked to your wips?
- have you followed the brief?

Too much nudity? It's National Geographic nudity though.
First CHoW, whoo!
Final! Didn't think I was gonna make it...
So... heres my 2 cents, first CHoW attempt, really impressed with everyones stuff already, man I wish I had more time ha ha. Concept: Not so Little Red Ridding Hood, on a late night wolf walk . Last seen walking into the "Howling Wood". Apparently she couldn't sleep with all the howling coming from the forest.

Awesome work everyone and good luck to all and everyone
If anybody knows or have the contact stuff to the most wonderfull singer in the known universe please give her this... plxOr
First CHOW entry...kind of intimidated by things other people are doing. Anyhoo, went for an African theme, and used a hyena instead of a wolf. I painted these two separately even though it is one scene, and now that I put them together like this I realize that the scale looks completely off (Red Riding Hood would be much smaller, but if I made her the right size proportionally it would be hard to see her clearly). Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks for all the feedback and help!
My harlequin romance:

science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who
can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe,
is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
good job everybody!

Grandma's House is an institution as renown for its beautiful entertainers as for its dark secrets. Its a sleazy underworld were beneath the glitz and glamor lies a heartless old matriarch who will do anything to make sure her patrons are satisfied, as long as they've got the cash to pay for... "special requests".
The burlesque house is closed for the night, the staff sent home and the tables cleaned for the morning. Enter Mr. Wolf, a powerful business mogul with a reputation for ruthlessness hounded by rumors of sexual deviancy. He goes to his private table and finds the requested items are already laid out for his pleasure. With a hiss of flame his cigar is lit and he happily pours himself a glass of fine scotch, settling in to the leather upholstery.
He has paid top dollar for this private show, and he intends to enjoy it to its fullest.

Here is the Big Bad Wolf impaled and bound for his criminal activities, and unwillingess to stop them. He will still find a way to lure his victims in...
Pencils and photoshop cs5.
I didn't like how the colors turned out, so I went greyscale, I feel its more impactfull that way. Hope that is ok!
