I look at it this way:

I'm glad to have CA.org and the support people provide.

That said, if CA disappeared (lord forbid) I would not lose a single smidge of desire to learn how to actually do this "magic" we call drawing.

A CA sketchbook, to me, is a great resource for plotting progress and keeping track of what is learned. Being able to interface with all you knowledgeable people is really a bonus and a treat as well... the feedback can really be very helpful.

One thing I will never do is allow the liveliness of my little SB dictate my desire to continue. I've been away from the board for two days, but not being able to draw for those last two days has been like someone holding my head underwater.

Hopefully you haven't lost your desire to draw, and we'll continue to be able to support you.

Have fun with that blog! But keep drawing!

    Thinking connects desire with creation.
    How good are you?

Just stopping by to check up on you, too bad you don't feel like updating your SB anymore. Doing what feels right is the most important thing though, keep working man!

My sketchbook is bigger than yours.

Bendragon yelled at me for not updateing. Same with Jatherip, actually found out the secret to Jatherip's name today it's clever Thought I would just throw an update out there since I did say I would on Sunday! What happened?

Anyways been getting away from internet alot lately becuase I seriously spend 30% of my time browseing useless things. When there is no reason to be online for more then 30 min a day if that. And where did all my crazyness go? What is this sleeping 7-9 hours a night? Ill set my alarm every night to wake me up after 4 hours but I always end up going back to sleep becuase I'm tired.

I need someone to slap me across the face and tell me how it is!

Here is a oil painting from this weekend and figures from yesterday. Working on drawing from my memory. Ill draw something from reference then try to recall it from memory! Can't wait till I can actually do it well.

    You mean jacktheripper?

Wow what did you do? You've improved, my man. Look at that oil. LOVE the brush strokes. Did you go out and buy a talent?

The rendered figure drawings look very very slick. You've been working hard and not updating!

The oil painting is coming out great. The feet and hands are a little mushy. Like the board strokes and color added into the shadow.

Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!

Jathrip: I feel the anger it's getting me pumped, thanks for always encourageing me man. YOUR THE BEST!!! It just always kills me inside when I update and I know I didnt work hard. And I wasnt working hard for past month so I don't update... Really really unbearably sad. Number one reason that I even post on this site is to show people my hard WORK. Next reason is to talk with other artists! Third reason is to just show my drawings to everyone and get crits.

P Sage: No man I've been drawing everyday but I've been way to fucking lazy!!! Like a 5 hours a day. I've been crazy the last few days though so lets make that last.

Anyways a drawing a did for chiustream yesterday he wanted somethigng funny. Spent 7 hours drawing it, I gota study anatomy so much more I don't know that stuff yet! Then the quick coloring job I did.

Some stuff from today. Did a few pages of pencil studies as well but I think ill just through them into the pile tommorow. I don't feel like documenting them right now. Shoot I rushed that girl doodle to much, I could of taken it farther... Idk I just noticed I kept mesisng around with it and over working it so I thought I should move on.

Digital is great, it takes me a few min to update now. Cheers

Man today went by fast! And honestly other then some cleaning up I virtually sat at my desk all day and drew my butt off! Did two pages of figure drawings butman I don't feel like documenting them just like last night hah.

Redueing the mermaid for the chiu stream, she was horrible first time around. I'm REALLY takeing my time with this line art. Gota just get it as nice as I possibely can before I move onto suggesting some of the form. I'm gona try and be very simple but effective... Last one I did wasnt to EFFECTIVE!

The robot I painted LIVE on the CHILLSTREAMMMM was tons of fun talking to everyone and painting. But man hard to consintrate.

Nice studies! I think you are doing good, and you are obviously quite hard working. You may do well to do some longer studies though, to try and work out some more rendering issues

Well it's time to buckle down and start spending the time that's needed on some things. I have developed some habits from my quick stuff that I need to break. Need to learn to develop new ways of thinking, new ways of working. New sensabilities I guess.

Meh I didnt like my stuff today. Mannnn I`m gona ROCKKKK tommrow! Reworked the mermaid like 5 times. I need to learn to think though, I just went in circlesss. PROCESS!

My stuff from today. Going to get onboard with something that Bobby Chiu calls the "artist workout". You basicalyl study an artist everyday. First you study there image, then you try working form a photograph in same way, then from life, then your imagination.

Ill have to figure out a way to scan in my A3 sized paper since that is what I started useing for my studies. A3's just nice to work on some how, I just cut a A0 size pad of bond into forths. I'm exited to share actually. I'm quirte happy that my gestures arnt looking that stiff anymore.

For now ill just update with a messlely 15 min digi sketch I did during class break yesterday. It's wrong hah, I should sleep.

niceeee blues on the suit are wrong, reds arent good, values and skin tones are not reaaaallyyy neat! that was harsh, lol, but its for your best
    something general:
practice color vision or however its called.
keep an eye on the structure
keep an eye on the proportions (check the negative space!)
keep an eye on the values!
    FUCKING TAKE YOUR TIME
keep it up, digitals are massively improving!

Jathrip: You bet I am dude!

I'm very happy and exited to see that my gestures are begining to do what gestures should do Come round next year ill be doing some nice solid gestures for sure just gota keep the 6-9 in morning gesture drawing at train staion habitual. Gestures from head and life.

And was working on a more finished drawing last night, still figureing it out, not happy with the characters yet, there both not doing exactly what I want them to be doing yet. I'm gona take this idea to the end and try to make something look as profetional as I can.
