spam patience and updates to site

    Hey All,

The updates to the site are slowly coming along. The batch uploader, needed here for years now should be finished up next week and the latest updates to the forums are going in. That will put an end to the handful of spam pm's and posts that are showing up this week.

We are still about a month of programmer hours shy of completing 4.0, which we are doing our best to raise budgets to complete. Once Khurrum, who is doing the site updates now, and has created the batch uploader for us, is done, he will be able to assist some, which will slowly get that done.

If you have not picked up one of the latest downloads, that would go a long way to helping the site and community. Your support is appreciated as it will make life better for everyone around here.

    Best,

    Jason

Thanks for letting us know of the state of things Jason! The batch uploader should motivate me enough again to post the contents of my sketchbook. Previously I had to upload like 30+ pages individually - not to mention the scanning, cropping, resizing, putting in a border. Then use the manager to upload each page....gaaahh!

I actually received comments that on certain image heavy pages of my SB, it would actually crash the browser. But in anycase, this is good news. Time to get scanning!

I've done my part and picked up both of Jane Radstrom's vids, as well as a few others that were on sale.

And once again, thanks for creating CA.org, it's helped me grow artistically since I registered so many years ago, as with many others.

    Here's to CA 4.0!

I assume this is why none of the attachments in the sketchbook forum are working. folks that used img tags are still up but for everyone who used the attachment manager none of the images are loading. if you go to the sketchbook section you can actually see all the broken pics on the left column where there are no images for all the people using the attachment manager.

Kinda sucks not being able to go through the sketchbooks but it sounds like you got alot of work to do.

a couple of people including myself posted about the broken images in the site feedback area but i didnt see this thread when i posted it.

By the way, wouldn't it just be easier to simply forbid the [img][/img] tags?
Especially when the new Attachment manager is going to be better- lots of old sketchbooks miss entire pages of pictures because they have all been added with img/img, and now theyre gone.

Thank you for your hard work here, I greatly appreciate CA and I believe it is one of the few places that keeps a certain level of politness and nice communal feeling.

I dont know, its times like this when i wish i did [img], cause a lot of the pics ive loaded here arnt even working now...

gah ill just have to be patient while they are working on the site.

*crosses fingers that nothing is lose...*

*Hey Jason, how difficult would it be to create a way for us to download the images we have loaded on this site in a zip file or something?*

Just saw the new measurements to prevent spambot PMs. Small and practical, but effective.

    Take that mindless spambot filth!

eep no, don't take away control from the user, the uploading is so people can't just upload to sites that could drop anytime/have bandwidth limits, a lot of us host on our own servers so we have full control - and there's plenty of times, eg in the lounge when it's not just your art being uploaded for images.

Yep...the activities are now at the top. It is time for collaboration and that is getting top billing.

The spam tech is now implemented and we have some other things to stop those rat bastards if any still get through now...but the programmer doing this stuff and helping us with the site is a genius so great stuff is only to follow. What a relief. I was deleting for an hour every day just to keep this place cleaned up!

    Thanks Khurrum! Thanks everyone.

Thank you so much for throttling the spammers. Not seeing many registered before the 8th now. Now I can have more time to draw.

Will get a download at the end of the month, funds allowing.
