    Delirium and Detritus

This is it... the ol' sketchbook... well... not so "ol'"... possibly in its tweens...

Some figure sketches from my time as a student... I apologize if the quality isn't superb as I had to photograph these using my measly non-professional digital camera.

Edited out because apparently conceptart.org has something against cghub, or vice versa?

ooh nice stuff! you are so good at hands!

    My sketchbook

"This is a paint and pixel-splattered furnace that forges the swords of artistic mastery. This is a place where swarthy and belligerent dwarves drink turpentine mead, berate their apprentices and slap the trade into their skulls. It's where the anvils are made of graphite, the hammers are as true as rectangular marquee selections and the fires burn with the light of a thousand lensflares." --Jason Rainville

Awesome figure drawings - really solid. Are they from life?

Yes, the figure drawings are from life. I really don't do good figure drawings unless I do them from life... I suppose that's something to work on...

Some stuff from my day job...

So I do chalk art signage for my day job... and since I don't have anything else ready to post I figure anyone who cares might like to see what I do when I don't get to do what I want to do...

    Enjoy! er... or don't.

Early sign whose influence must be obvious...

A sign for coffee... I'm not hip, or urban, but I thought this store/coffee brand might wanna be... I think the guy at the top right looks like Shaggy.

    Fonts, fonts, fonts...

This was for a work "rally" shindig...

When mountain goats need a pick-me-up...

A thin homage to Mucha, which is difficult to do w/ chalk markers, eh?

    A lil' zoom on it...

    Olives, yep...

Mo' olives... you only wish you could eat these...

    A special request...

    Beachy fun...

    Patriotic fun...

Ever had to demo Nacho Bites and needed to take a pee!? Here's your answer! For just four easy installments of... ahhh, nevermind. A "Went to Take a Pee" sign...

    Cheese and Babies...

    Cheddar's alter ego...

    Taking Greek yogurt too far

It was really hard getting this guy to hold still...

Customers came with torches and pitchforks... it was a madhouse

This is the reason why dying by "vampire" never really frightened me. What a way to go...

    Ho, ho, ho... meh...

    Holiday Gelato...

A dip in the latte, anyone?? And yes, that's bungee tinsel, and yes, some of those elves' outfits aren't up to code. Sue me.

    A detail...

    What's the prophet in that?

I get really frustrated with the weekly challenges... meh.

I don't think I'll continue on with this one... but I thought I'd post what I'd done here...
I think there were comments suggesting that this is not really a prophet of the end times; alas, I disagree with their notions of what defines a prophet visually.

Still, in the character sheet I began to mend that issue but quickly became disinterested.

I'm chalking this up to more experience, and I think I made at least a little progress and became a little bolder in my approach (though perhaps to no one's eyes but my own).

I realize that I'm having a hard time even bringing an image into being without being disappointed in it right away, so I'll be looking at as much ref as I can get my hands on, and maybe when I undertake a project I'll try to get photos if possible.

Love the Chalk signs! They are great. Do you do the work on site or do you get to do them in studio and instal them later?
    Great stuff!

Wheeljack18: I do the signs on site. I've got a desk in the produce back room... hehe.

    Here's a few more...

    Valentine's day...

I wanted to do something atypical, but this began while thinking about a Doris Day movie called Pillow Talk, and evolved from there.

Are you ready for some avocado?

The Produce people get a cash prize if they win in a display contest for Chilean Hass Avocados. One of them offered to buy me lunch if they won. Pffft.

Forgotten Sketches... or, I wish they were...

These have been lying around. All could use some work, some I wish I could urinate on and then pummel with a meat tenderizer. Likely none will be finished. I'm just keeping them isolated in a folder as jpgs so that I can hopefully look back and laugh at myself.

    Most are unfinished CHOWs...

Great sketchbook here! You've got some really nice (chalk?) pieces that you did for the store. And your sense of anatomy seems pretty good. My only question is, why don't you finish them up? You've got a lot of really cool ideas that seem half finished. I think it would be excellent to see you finish them up

*New Sketchbook* Come stop by :3

    *SKETCHBOOK*(old)

I am currently looking for a mentor to help me improve my sketch book. Either that or lots of crits and suggestions to help me improve my skills.

jsn and Newman101, I don't have any immediate plans to finish most of the pieces here. I may go back to concepts and start over, but much of what I have here disappointed me for any number of reasons and therefore become very difficult to hammer out. (Trust me, there has been considerable hammering on a number of these.) Thanks for visiting! Stop again soon!

Something I did in a figure drawing session this morning. Sorry about the poor quality. Need a better camera... If the picture stinks, however, it's because I'm extremely rusty... and a host of other artistic inadequacies

im obsessed with those chalk ads, you have an amazing style with those, i just love the bright mix of colors, amazing, for the computer work, i feel like you need some more practice with the medium, i find it very hard too because im also self taught with traditional medium but we will get there!
