    wip

I'm blown away by the work here; I'm not worthy at all. This is actually my first "concept art", and it's very exciting. I'm still trying to push myself with my work, and this is an amazing exercise-like someone else said, I can't believe I didn't get in on this earlier! This is all I have for today, had to do some impromptu car shopping...

    Guess I'm done.
A little over the top - James Bond bad guy
    A little witch-doctor, a little mad general...

    Venger;
Oh thats fucking good. You like to win eh?
I love the details that do the story telling!

The African scar patterns, the leopard fur leg thing, the war medals. The pattern on the pants makes them look expensive.

And I love that he has a watch, maybe a gold one would be even better? I would like more hints at his wealth.

The only negative thing I can say is the gun is kind of bringing you down a slight notch. It just doesn't seem to look real or intimidating.

May I reccomend you redraw it and make it an UZI? That gun is popular in Africa.

    New update from me:

It's nice to win, sure, never guaranteed though (I've done 11 chows, all to this standard, mostly - lot of close calls)
Not that its that important, it goes further than CA though - I get some new pictures to spread around.
I get to put them up on other sites - it helps business

As for the gun - thats the point, I don't want it to be overpowering - he's not the man who pulls the trigger - he's got people to do that for him - he just gives the orders
I'll go back to it and see if I can solidify it some more though.

Or j-pop star/ something to do with Japanese street fashion (has there been a challenge like that? I can't remember now) And by the way, thanks for the great work you and Parsakoira have been doing on chow since taking over
Lol, those seem like more fashion oriented then character oriented prompts. Just sayin.
Also, there are so many awesome prompts here!: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...123394&page=15
Which I found when I actually scrolled my page up. Lololololol I'm so observant... XP
But in any case, an all-female CHoW seems a little redundant to me. I mean, the people who have won the most competitions draw (so far as I can see) all females. :/ (Ally Fell and Jessibean) And we did a Steampunk Aphrodite not too long ago.
Not that I'm pickin on you or anythin f o x. It' just that I wanted to respond to you and touch upon another subject. Just killin two birds with one post is all.

Well, first time doing a CHOW and I'm definitely late on this one hah

I liked the theme so I thought I'd give it a shot and get some more drawing done on my free time.

Well, here's my WIP. I hope to have it done by the deadline.

Elixy and Paraskoira did this because in previous entries some people "lost them self's" in doing illustration, scene that tell some kind of the story, and not doing character design as supposed to(because this is chow). By "some people" i mean beginners. And this isn't bad thing, but i felt it needed to be told(by mods) so they can finish this task to the the end, and get full potential of each artist, by focusing their attention just on character.

@ Mark, great, looking forward to see how it will look in final thread
@ Elixy, weeeeeeell... i kinda like it dark and gritty, my kinda style, so it's fine by me whatever you put as topic i'll make it dark somehow. At least i will try

Yeah, I agree. I think a slight tweaking of the brief can make much clear.

lol wow lots of responses. Well I'll tie up this discussion for now. It's definitely given me some things to think about.

Thanks to everyone who has given Par and myself a nice big thumbs up, it makes doing this mod thing so much easier and enjoyable

If you want to continue disscussing aything about ideas, or want to give feedback on any CHoW there is a discussion thread HERE which you can use. But remember, if it turns into a flame war or starts becoming more harm than good it will get closed, so play nice kids

Also @Phrix, Aly Fell is a guy

Finals thread will be up as soon as firefox decides to stop being a douche. ^_^
