    55 Dragons Design Marathon images

This thread is collection of Dragon bust 3d sketches I did over the course of February 2011 using Zbrush.
55 designs in less then 28 days. I would probably make more concepts if it weren't for regular work on the side.
Most of the dragons were modeled from scratch or recycled from the previous zsphere base(teeth, tongue, eye were also mostly recycled).
On average, it took about 2 hours give or take to model each dragon.
During this design "marathon" I have recorded most of the modeling sessions(except couple of models I had my zbrush app crash in the middle of session) that you can check out at the link bellow.
Whole idea of this "marathon" ended up as quite useful thing for me, since I ended up with some sharper skills, became faster in conceiving something, got to know Zbrush 4 even better, and worked out some cool ideas for dragon related images that I plan to flesh out in weeks and months to come.
Anyways, I hope this thread inspires and motivates anyone who comes here just as I get inspired watching other crazy threads here.

These are all 55 dragons in one place, to see bigger images go bellow or follow the link to my website gallery.

I couldn't find the way to embed couple of videos here so,

Images were rendered in Zbrush and tweaked in photoshop(Depth of field)

That's a great exercise. You came up with some very cool looking designs. Original, believable structures as well. Good Job!!

Those are very awesome! I love the texture work you did on that. I did my first ZBrush model which was a dragon and now I am seeing I have alot to learn on texturing and especially on rendering. Did you turn on perspective and give it a blur?

    very nice!!

Wow! that's some nice work there. I'm flat out going to take a bunch of inspiration from these great design concepts ( -read rip of a few shamelessly :p ) when it cones to doing a bunch of dragon skulls and heads for a company I know that wish it.

Also I better get cracking trying to learn this digital sculpting lark, how long before this is the way companies will want to go and just 3D print the work for production.

These are awesome and inspiring, you came up some really great, unique, original dragons. I really enjoyed watching some of the time lapse videos of their creation.

How do you contain the uniqueness of each monster when making so many?
I would just get stuck in stereotype.
