Sketching ain't easy: The LaughingBun story

Hello gang, I'm a long time Lurker and a part time friend. I wanted to get real with my drawing skills and hopefully grow a lot from starting this sketchbook. Please be critical and hurt my feelings. I encourage paintovers or any help/meanness you can provide.

Nice still life right there. :U Nifty underwater concept thing too.

I would suggest working more with color, and a lot more working from life. That still life is great, but the perspective is made of what, especially around the brim of the cup. Something just isn't right.

    Keep it up dood.

Hey! decent start. Don't have too much to critique except keep going at it. I think your graphite work in Post 5 has some interesting ideas!

Hey everyone. Here are some images from my sketchbook. They are all drawn while riding a train from imagination and an occasional awkward stare at fellow passengers. Then there are a couple life drawings.

Nice work, Tad! (This is Ryan... In case ya didn't know!) Great start to your sketchbook thread, man! The latest stuff is looking good and more polished for sure. The perspective on some of the buildings seems a bit wonky in the first but it's coming along. And the the armor is looking really nice too. I like how you're trying to render the materials accurately. Great work!

If I have one crit, I'd say when you're first starting your stuff try to focus on the planar structure a bit more of the objects. Sometimes your paintings seem to really loose their forms. Particularly some of the earlier stuff I'm seeing on here. Just try to keep that "wireframe" in mind. Know what I mean? Keep it up!

Thanks to everyone who has left me feedback so far I really appreciate it. I have been trying to go to weekly drop in figure drawing sessions, so this is a figure drawing dump.

Those planar studies are great, as are the figure drawings. A big move up since you started the book. Great job!

Hey, sketching ain't easy, but it's fun and that's that's exactly what I feel while looking at your thread. Though I suggest to work much more from life!

    cheers

I started that from a sketch and spend prolly 3 or 4 hours messing with it. I forgot about It I think Im going to revisit it and try and clean it up more and work on more vibrant colors and atmosphere.
