    Sentinel! You got hit with the nerf-hammer today and decided to get back into CHOW because MVC3 will be a lot harder as from now on? :p (don't bother if you don't understand what I'm talking about.. )

    Here's an update on mine. Values, upressing, rendering, etc.

    getting along with it...

    okay here he is with new legs. I also started on the rendering, and I'm slowly zeroing in on the values (and some color to help me think about where I'll be taking it.)

    @Demo_Thesis: Thanks for the critique, man. Appreciated.

    I scrapped the bg for now to focus on the character without worrying too much on the perspective. If I have time later I'll add the rest.
    Except for the problem with his right shoulder and wrist, I want to make his simbol on the chest and those vials glow of holiness (maybe the gem on the sword too?).
    I hope the "waffle iron" will resemble more of a shield once i start putting colors there.
    Any further suggestion to improve this will be well received.

    Aww man you guys always come up with such awesome topics... I was too tempted by this one, had to go sketch it out while waiting for a render. I won't be participating in the finals, though I might finish this one digitally after school is over for the semester.

    Amazing works so far in this thread!

    I don't think I got enough of the paladin into him and then I threw that shield in there... which doesn't make visual sense so I'll have to remove it and think of something else.

    Well there is definitely no chance ill get mine done in time, but I wanted to flesh the concept out anyway.

    stead = Harley Davidson (modified)
    Armour = scraps of plate metal
    religion = Christian
    weapon = plasma gun?
    companion = falcon or eagle

    moto =

    "Preach with the calming words which the lord did gift every son of Adam and did gift every Daughter of Eve. Or preach with the burning bolt of the plasma gun, the hot lead of the rifle or the cold steel of a fine blade. To the Lord who art in heaven, it matters only that you preach"

    A few obvious perspective issues, but then again, it s only a thumbnail. Also, sorry about the quality, my scanner is chap and nasty.

    emerging — That's fabulous! I love how you've incorporated so many "found" pieces of armor, yet made it into something potentially intimidating. I'm stuck trying to picture a vacuum cleaner as a cybernetic appendage.

    I haven't done anything for CHoW in FOREVER. So I thought I might throw something down this time around. I'll fix the dimensions if they're screwy.
    Please let me know if you are already seeing huge problems.
    Costume is still in the works, but I figure that even though he is a Paladin, it is Post-Apocalyptic, so we won't be having any fancy knight armor. Probably closer to what common people of the Dark Ages wore, but with a 21st century spin.

    Fetsch: That piece is just beautiful- I really love it

    M: You already know how awesome you are, I don't need to say anything

    Sentinel.: Welcome back! I've missed seeing your lovely pictures on conceptart!

    GEB: I had a similar idea at first, but I'm really glad I didn't go with it cause yours is waaaay better!

    Well I feel a little ashamed to post it after seeing all the amazing works that have already been posted, but here's my first rough sketch this week.

    The word ‘anarchy’ comes from the ancient Greek αναρχία in which αν meant ‘without’ and αρχία meant first a military ‘leader’ and then ‘ruler’. Anarchist society is one ‘without rulers’: a classless, non-hierarchical society.
    “You need people like me.

    Ack! Ick! Gah! Doh!... I'm not sure I like what I'm doing or where this is going... sigh... Anyway... she's a Zoroastrian Paladin; there's poetry in a dwindling ancient religion being the last bastion of hope at the end of the world.

    New to chows. This weeks topic seems interesting. Started messing around a little. Though I seriously doubt I'll have time to finish.

    @Sentinel

    Beautiful picture. The rendering and the expression are excellent. The one thing is that I'm not getting much of a "post-apocalypse" or "paladin" vibe from it at all. There is a slight indication of wrecked buildings in the background and the monsters in front could kind of be demonic, but she just looks like an average girl. Not sure how closely you wanted to stick to established tropes but my two cents is that I'd never guess the subject of the CHOW from your piece.

    @GEB

    The light ray coming down is gorgeous, I was thinking of adding something like that myself if I can make it looks nice. Your composition is beautiful. keep up the great work man!

    @Bleurgh

    I like the action idea but the pose doesn't read well at all, especially because the guy's legs seem absurdly small compared to his massive shoulders and arms. Try to perform that move yourself with lots of rage and see how your legs naturally go. That's how to do it.

    @Rotor

    Beautiful.

    @Munkierevolution

    Use that paint over. Your feet still look awkwardly turned. Also the thing behind his head looks not unlike a flyswatter. On the plus side that shotgun is BEAUTIFUL and looks like it is ready to kick unholy ass. The horizon line placement is much improved. Keep it up!

    @Sinnerman

    The rendering is gorgeous but the leg placement looks weird. Its like they're vestigial limbs just floating beneath him. The rest of awesome but the legs need work.

    @Emerging

    Way to come in out of nowhere and be completely awesome. I am not getting much of a "paladin" vibe from it but you definitely have the futuristic aspect down. Truly beautiful rendering. I am excited to see how the composition turns out.

    @M

    100 times better. Thanks to every one who provided those awesome paint overs. I personally found them helpful as well.

    @Kilzo Rotator

    We can't see your piece. Use the upload tool in the reply box and an accepted file format to be able to upload properly. There are a lot of great tutorials if you have questions or you can PM me if you have any questions!

    Hope this helps! I will post an update tomorrow. Haven't gotten any crits yet so I will just dive into rendering. Now to finish my work for the night and sleep!

    Another WIP before I go to bed.... I'll wake up early to work on it more tomorrow. Everyone's doing so well! Keep it up!

    Someone visiting my sketchbook commented that I needed to loosen up. I'm trying to take his advice... but I tend to depend on my linework too much. Trying to work through it:

    Man, some awesome stuff going on here. I missed last week's and I'm a coupla days late getting in on this one, but don't count me out yet!

    Mine definitely could use some more... apocalypse. Hoping to make the background a very obviously ruined/abandoned church (which it really isn't yet). Much of her armor is based on a combination of army and sports gear...

    Not sure where i want to take him next. Ive got some critics on his general pose, it being too stiff.
