The nerve of some so-called "artists"

I googled my website today just to see what would turn up or if I was linked anywhere... This guy's site came up in the search...

Here's a screen grab of my site:
The nerve of some so-called "artists"

And here's a grab of this joker's site:
The nerve of some so-called "artists"

Look at the page title at the top of browser...

    Unbelieveable...

I e-mailed him telling him if he was going to steal my design he could at least take my page titles off of his pages so my site name isn't all over his hack of a site.

    Some people...

that is really not cool, but also it means he really liked your page design... so its kinda a compliment, I mean other than posting his crap art and us spaming him that he is of satan and hence is an evil devil himself yadda yadda yadaa.
is he a lurker here at concept art?

What a cock. :/ There's a slim possibility that he didn't actually design his site and that someone else ripped it off, so you might not want to be TOO confrontational right off the bat (although I understand your frustration).

Actually I always figured I might see a site similar to mine at some point because the design really is so damn simple. But I never thought I'd see my page titles on the top of someone else's site.

And I was civil in my e-mail to him. But believe me, I really wanted to write a more colorful note to him.

The guy wont give you any compition, he's out in Eastern Europe somwhere...and his work looks nothing like yours, and the design is hyper-simple...so I would just relax.

What? He's in NYC. Not that it matters... stealing someone's work is still stealing.

Well this guy finally took his site down. I e-mailed him and got no response, so I wrote a real letter to him and a few days later his site was taken down. The letter was polite and included some classic phrases such as "As an artist yourself I am sure that you can understand my reasons for contacting you." And it worked.. As much as I wanted to be a bit more colorful in telling him what I think about people stealing work from other artists, being polite about it seems to have gotten more accomplished.

Anyway, I'm just glad my site is one-of-a-kind again.
