This is my version of "Libitina" a Roman Goddess that rules the underworld, she is also known as the goddess of funerals...

DSG 406: Misc: Find info on mythological god and draw them

And I did this quick sketch of "Anubis" or "Anpu" who is the Egyptian god of the underworld, he leads the dead to the afterlife and is known as the "guardian of Necropolis"...

    No time left to finish
    It's "TLAZOLTEOTL"
Eater of filth, devourer of sins, goddess of witches and witchcraft. Tlazolteotl has power over all forms of unclean behavior, usually sexual. Confessing sins to Tlazolteotl, one is cleansed. The goddess has four forms or aspects, corresponding to the phases of the moon: a young and carefree temptress, the lover of Quetzalcoatl; the Goddess of gambling and uncertainty; the Great Priestess who consumes and destroys the sins of mankind; and frightful old crone, persecutor and destroyer of youth. (http://www.gods-heros-myth.com/namerican/aztec.html)

It's the 1st phase of the moon (the lover phase) in my drawing.

The Babylonian god Marduk. He had four eyes, four ears, and appropriately governed the four winds.
The stars in the back were just for that cosmic feeling.

Azothoth. Not quite done (as usual), but I'm going to take a break.

@JSlayer - Yours made me laugh
@xbiten - I like the shapes & colors... I don't understand what it is, but I like the way it looks.

EDIT: Okay, spent way too much time on this for a daily sketch. Great topic.

Hey guys. I havent posted in awile now. But I have seen alot of great work done lately. I havent posted lately because I feel that my creativity is dead and I cant do anything. I did do a piece for today though. Its not completed yet, but I am going to post it now just incase I dont finish it tonight. It is Achilles. So far I am happy with this piece, the armor is giving me problems though. Hopefully I will be able to resolve them.

alright. a little late, gonna try to use another website b/c this one shrinks pics, but here ye go. first attempt at a female. used photo for reference. done in painter 7 in about an hour with intuos 2 stylus pad.

DSG 406: Misc: Find info on mythological god and draw them

This is Persephone. The Wife of Hades,
The beautiful daughter of Demeter and Zeus, Persephone is the focus of the story resulting in the division of the seasons, giving us the sweetness of Spring and the bitterness of Winter. Hades did not woo the beautiful Persephone, he abducted her and took her to his underground kingdom. After much protest, Persephone came to love the cold blooded king of the underworld but her mother, Demeter, was consumed with rage and sorrow. She demonstrated her anger by punishing the earth’s inhabitants, gentle and fierce with bitter cold and blustering winds. Unless Persephone was returned of to her mother’s side, the earth would perish.
Herakles came to the rescue. He entered the kingdom of Hades and negotiated a compromise between the (usually cold and selfish) Hades and the (usually loving and caring) Demeter. All agreed that Persephone would to spend part of the year with her husband, Hades, and part of the year with her mother, Demeter.
When Persephone is with Hades the earth is wracked by the sorrow of her mother. But, when Persephone returns from the underworld to walk the earth again, Demeter pours forth the blessings of Spring to welcome her beloved daughter home.

    EDIT:

In each hand she holds half of a Pomegranite. While in hades for the first time, she was given a pomegranite. From it she consumed 4 seeds. Each seed was seen as one of the seasons of the year.

    information from Messagenet.com

Okay got a website thats not gonna shrink my images. heres the actual size 500x500 image.
