My entry: This machine is huge. You can see the crashing fighter jet and the buildings for scale. Top right you see the robots shields blocking incoming missiles. there are plenty of anti-aircraft cannons mounted on his shoulders - cities and everything else are taken care off with his heavy duty weapons, which are his hands.

I was going for a steampuck-ish feel for this one.
I was thinking my robot would impale his victims with his drill or just throw or use stuff around him as a weapon i.e a stop sign or steel beams.
hes adaptable to many environments, so as long as there's life to be destroyed he'll be there.

the unexpected happened today, and my PC stopped working completely... I had this entry finished and all, but now that i cant get an access to it, i have no other choice than to post a work in progress i had uploaded, as a final entry :l really a shame... It would have been no problem if my dad had a photoshop, but all he had was paint which i used to create the text.....

I liked Dragon's entry. It's got a cheesy Heavy Metal style that has "Doombot" written all over it.

What an impressive round. Thanks to everyone who entered and voted.

@dragon4lunch - Looks massive, heavy, malicious, and unstoppable. Very doomy. I think it was a good move sticking with B&W.

@Velocity Kendall - Thinking "outside of the box," I appreciate that. Interesting render and shapes, especially the snow flakes.

@SaintLConcept - Nicely polished render! That actually turned out really good - nice and tight. I think my favorite render of the bunch. Going with the blue lighting was a good choice. You may not have been feeling the "doom," but so what, you came away with a sick robot anyway.

@Parsakoira - It's a simple concept, but you really made it look frightening and energetic. Really expert stuff. That's too bad for everyone that we didn't get to see the final version, but even at this stage, it's still badass.

@h2rra - Nah, it doesn't look like a hairdryer, it just looks retro. I like that you get a good sense of scale and an idea how it destroys things.

    Nice round.

dragon4lunch - Doom comes to mind instantly when I survey the scale of it. A good feeling of mass is portrayed - almost like if The Punisher character was a robot seeking vengeance, this is what he would take form as. Thought those wheels could've had deathly spikes on them, exaggerating the heavy metal aspect of this even more but nice entry. Black and white is your niche lately.

marjorie - Cool traditional design, I think the yellow-metal color choices were accurate for this one.

Velocity Kendall - So I read the story and that's a really cool concept paired along with an intriguing and visually crisp entry. The spaceship above could've used a little work, maybe a small model of an exact NASA space shuttle with the same refreshingly crisp look of the asteroid and it's accompanying details. You got my vote so far.

SaintLConcept - Solid bot, but tire propelled legs, in a locomotive mechanical way? I don't know if he could get to where he needs to be to destroy mankind, haha. Unless there's a power source integrated into his calve area that'd lift him into the air when the situation arises.

Parsakoira - Definitely a doombot I can imagine seeing in a Pixar movie. Well developed, looking forward to the final version in your sketchbook if you decide to put it up.

h2rra - Fun concept and I liked the style from what you had here so far, but why is the machine blowing away from the tanks and soldiers? I'm assuming there was meant to be a barrage of military fire from that alternative direction also.

Rambozo - That's really funky, and gives off mysterious alien vibes. I like that you paid attention to the small creatures too and the cavern environment this spiderbot-like entity is encased in. This song comes to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZm095QghTQ The title applies as well.

JanJager - 'LEVIATHAN: THE COASTAL PEST THAT MARKED THE END OF MANKIND' is a movie title that springs to mind. Good stuff Jag!

My vote goes to Velocity Kendall for an intriguing concept that was nicely executed.

My vote goes to Dragon4lunch. Someone already mentioned it had a bit of a “cheesy Heavy Metal” feeling to it, dunno if that’s exactly how I would put it but I have to agree with the comment : the hole grotesque exaggerated-vibe of it is what I like. I would have liked to have seen this in colour though, as I think it would have cleared certain things up quite a bit (for instance I hadn’t cought on that it was a shield with missiles to the right or downed fighters to the left in the sky until I read the text), not to mention I reckon it woulda given off a lot more “mood” with the flames etc.

For pure concept I think Velocity Kendall's is easily the best; it reminds me of the book "Footfall." Incredibly simple yet utterly effective. The image was not terribly exciting to me, though, so in the end I voted for Parsakoira for the pure feeling of malevolence I get from it.
