The Topic is "Cold" but the entrys are very hot XD
I chose to work using the Native (north)American as my main reference (and theirs toten art)
Its Carnival here in Brazil so didnt had time to do much than a search for references, soon I`ll post some sketchs.

jrbarker: Great idea here. The not quite connected snowdude is fun. I'm sure you'll take care of the hands when you get there. I'm liking the face too.

This is being fun. Now let's take the nicest grandma you can find and slowly turn her into an avatar of evil.

Progress shot. More detailing and background to work through. Having fun on my first CHoW outting and enjoying the results that the community has put together.

I'm having a heck of a time with this one. I can't find a good creature design to stick to.

Here's my first WIP, kinda rough everywhere but the face. Background creature is just a place holder for now. Critique and such greatly appreciated!

Y'all know that feeling like you're beating your head against a brick wall? Because you just can't seem to solve the composition or the design, or the mood? Geez louise. I think I got over the hump tho. Update schwing!

Always wanted to do one of these

    Narwhals HO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I might edit the face a little maybe add some accessories dagger or what not.
Was going to putting some snow in the air.. but I find adding little specs distracting.

Anyone else underestimated how hard snow is.

I love the guy in the back hes all "Touchdown!"

    Some Praise for the awesomeness!

Artfix - I think that's looking awesome so far!
NoShot - Nice start, looking forward to your progress.
Hilding - Nice idea! I have to ask though, where is the summoned thing? Not sure levitation counts for the brief?
    M - that's just awesome. Creepy!!
MJ Alcazar - I love your beastie thing, can't wait to see it done!
Urotskidoji - way to choose a dynamic pose! can't wait to see what's behind her
Aly Fell - Long time since I've seen you in here! Looking forward to your take on this
Homerid - nice start, really digging the idea of the bird-rider

Ok, now that my eyeballs have melted..... sleep, then draw!

Another newbie! Well, sort of. Made this account in 2009, and I've been lurking on CA since, uh... 2005? Ish? Finally got up the nerve to participate after a friend started doing these. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. HI.)

Here's my progress, greyscale rough and current colours. I'm really unhappy with the composition right now, but every time I try to crop in closer and/or take it off center, it starts looking strange. Help?

Homerid – Great scene, drama and action, this must be finished.
Parasakoria – looking good, I like the balance between the blue and splashes of red.
Kingkostas – please finish this, I really like the way it kinda looks like a 3d image, which suits your description. I am really intrigued to see this finished. The texture you have used in the snowmancer, which looks almost astral, tells us all about the wizardry of the snowmancer.
Urotskidoji – That lady is definitely gonna kick my ass! Nice warrior fashion and pose.
Prepsage – i can’t wait to see the snow crab. Very dynamic pose and framing. Character looks focused and fits in with environment, which is set to be a beast in itself. Looking forward to seeing more.
PxelSlayer – Very elegant and easy on the eye although, not sure how this will be developed. You render much better than myself, but I would be cautious of getting caught in mid tone greys. Show me I know nothing, and post the follow up!
    GEB – ROAR!
Partisan – Holly shit! Looks epic, from a film with a huge budget, this is cinematic bliss. Even though this is a full body shot, this feels like a close up within a massive cave. Excited to see more.
Sakuranym – I just realised that was a giant snake. Im sure it will be wonderful. You have a great rendering style and once again depicted an intriguing character/mood.
MatejaPetkovic – last week I was impressed with your production methods/speed, and surprised that it was ok’d by CHOW. I really like this weeks, great style again. Slightly mad and embittered from the harsh environment and solitude.
Kloakatriposa – PAGAN! Your snowmancer is fantastic! I am totally sold on the idea your snowmancer is a nomadic wizard of sorts, challenging the gods and plagued by his own creations. Please post more.
Macimovic - I like simple composition, I think it works well between the two characters. The ice blue ‘could/should’, be turned down alot, or maybe use a unifying overlay colour in new layer? I look forward to seeing more.
Goog – I like the feel of this image, looks like the snowmancer is returning home and not about to gave exp points in a final fantasy fight. This underplayed approach, I think, tells us more about the character of the individual.
Fetsch – Sweet. I can’t say much more than that. It’s on key to turn out fantastic, great rendering and style.
Jrbarker – Iconic stance going well. The legs/feet of the snowmancer look like they conflict with the rest of the figures propositions. I think the lighter background makes the characters expression more dramatic. Good monster, I can already tell the density of snow and weight of the structure.
EvilSanta – yeah that’s an evil santa! Halloween/Christmas cool stuff, I think the blue and green combination is confusing my focus at the moment, same tonal range.
LibertineM – charming, really nice approach. I think the understated nature actually makes yours stand out. I am looking forward to seeing progress pics.
OfficialLamp – cool rendering on the Inuit. I don’t know why, but maybe go somewhere tiki with your snow monster, I know it’s not in the right culture or geography but the block like monster you have will fit into that style.
Artfix – Great rendering, the snowmancers look great. He is clearly not doing his sunday shopping, so Im looking forward to this developing/playing out the scene.

Here is my Sketchbook. Please have a look if you have time. Thanks.

MasterTroglodyte: I think that's working much better, though her feet are bothering me. She looks a bit off ballance to me. Is she on a ledge a fair distance in infront and above the monster? If so a bit of light catching the edge may help seperate them.

Revidescent: Hey welcome to CHOW! You know I think you could make a much more powerful image withy a classic crucifixion pose. Not to mention make life a shit load easier

TinyBird: I really like the second one looks liek they're taking shelter under the big one

dawnusllaw: She's looking pretty strong. like the pose. I think you could make more of the hulking snow beast I like the idea of it being very protective of its master

    Will crit more later

Thanks UCT, I know what you mean and it will be unified. Did this in 2-3 layers max so I will see if i will have to use any layers for the blending.

Started the rendering process and messed with composition. Think I'm gunna open it out to the left a little and move the mountain over than way and knock it way back. It' sfar to distracting ant the moment

    @GEB

I would definitely open it up, it looks a little cramped and limits the epic feeling of that creature.

My update! Just wondering... I won't be disqualified because my character is a wolf-human hybrid, right?
