Great designs. No shortage of imagination here.
You seem to have a solid idea of what you want.

Tighten up those PS skillz with tutorials and stuff. That's what I do, sometimes.
Dave Rapoza has some, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure most of those other idols you mentioned have lots too.

    Keep it up.

    @ Christoffer: ty man.

yea i'm really awfull in getting down with all the painting stuff especially keeping it neat.

not to mention i'm a total shruberry when it comes to light and atmosphere.

hey guys today i'm really into sketching trying to find different ways and such.

i'm probably gonna make a ton more today.

i'm doing this cause i still have a problem with translating my ideas into a visual image without spending tons of time on it. so get a towel and some soap this is gonna get dirty.

ok i was doodling around and decided to render out a sketch.

i'm totally not happy how it turned out. did metal studies on the pain itself but i need way more practice.

added a gif thing. i think i have like no clue how to build up an image the right way.

    hello again!

so ive been really drunk for like a week. so didn't do too much of work. shame on you liver shame on you!

getting warmed up with an anubis paint. i really wanna focus on the light sources.
first designing some to get an idea of where i'm going.

as i was painting this i noticed that i am waaaay to dependent on highlights. I should focus more on the ambient occlusion and the effect that light has on the material instead of just slapping on highlights everywhere. i will try to remedy this and update it later today.

i think i've been on this for 5-6 hours now maybe even longer i always lose track of time.

ooookaaaay. so i added like a bazzillion soft light layers. to push out the parts that needed it and to get some more colour variation going. i love using soft light. and then just chalk brushed away with the palette of colours i had didn't try to zoom in too much. i still had some problems by getting more attention to go to his face. i think it's due to the light spots on the side. decided to give him a greyish beard. and get some glowing emeralds on his necklace thing. then added waaaaaaay more light.

I also discovered that lots of shapes have like 3 sides to them that need different lighting and some work better with slight colour variations.

no i hope i don't forget everything i learned from doing this xD. happens like all the time.

    i'm gonna do horus next!

Hey dude, badass work, I love the greyscale sketches with the hints of super intense whites. Well i mean everything in here is awesome, but that's my favourite. XD Keep posting dude.

Once again great designs, I'd like to see some of your characters in action, I feel this always helps when trying to convey a character's background or story.

Cool to hear your from Belgium! Do you speak any French? I know Belgians speak French/Dutch or both depending where you're from and even a little german in some spots. EnchantÚ de faire votre connaissance!

@Psychobuddy:Hey man thx for dropping by, i have been lurking inside your SB many times. great content.

@CrashPoint: yea i know the static characters aren't always that much fun to look at. i make them that way cause i also do 3D and for concepting for 3D it makes them more readable. but i'm deffo planning on doing some action shots in the near future. I speak both mainly dutch tho. pleasure to meet you too ^^.

Anyway this one took many hours to finish. i really had a hard time getting the materials where i wanted. not 100% happy about the skull inside the helmet and some other things. didn't quite figure out how to do that one yet.

i'm gonna stop doing these overrendered paintingsfor a while, i'm gonna do more illlustration stuff.

higher rez stuff is available on my deviantart.

A full breakdown of me ranting how i do all these and give more isight into my crappy workflow can be read at me and my friends blog!

    http://fierceskarfox.blogspot.be/

it won't do pros any good but maybe some new people can find learny things...yea...

    hi to all the peoples

been a few days, so i'm gonna do a new series. i'll upload step by steps of every character i will be doing over the next couple of days.

first i'm gonna start of by sharing some thumbnails. i just started off by doodeling silhouettes en then go over them with lines.

the theme is dead dead royal court members. that was character of the week but i missed it so i'll be doing all of my thumbnails. The more you know ^^.

    allright so step two.

so here is what i came up with from the first thumbnail. i used some lighter grey to accent the face etc. and added a second face remember the more you do the more you learn. lol.

i'm also gonna do backgrounds with all of these. because..i'm really really bad at those. like really bad...you have no idea. you seen people crying and screaming in the streets in disaster movies? That bad..yup
