Very cool man! I like how it's "brushy" and solid at the same time. How did you do that? Is it "layered approach" or something?

Ah right! I actually saved some steps for the last one. Maybe that'll help answer your question. I don't always work like this. Most of the time I actually work in lines first but the Saruman ref had some pretty dominant shapes going on I could rely on.

I actually wanted to hide a fearful little girl's face among the corpses and put some nazi boots or something in the corner... But as soon as I started to flesh the idea out a bit it seemed pretty silly. So here's a bunch of corpses.

    Thumbs up

Those screen-cap studies from lotr and others are pretty tasty!

Thanks guys! I appreciate your visits!

I finally calibrated my monitor with that sweet Spyder device. And oh man, were my colors off in the past. I recommend everyone to do the same.

Thanks Fetsch, FUSHANDCHUPS (lol) and Somelar. Glad you like them!

Here's the color thumbnail for that sketch I did. Some things will change during the rendering, though.

And another thumbnail for something I might actually do even though it's all kinds of fucked up at the moment. I'd have to get better at rocks before attempting this, I think.

5 Stars - wonderful studies and personal pieces.

& I've had at least two 1 stars given - I assume its just people taking the normal internet Poll mentality of either max or nothing, or someone trying to moderate the thread down as they see a perfect 5 being too high etc (without allowing for time to phase it out). (I moderated my own thread down actually - gave it a 2 for that very reason, but I don't do it towards others).

I absolutely adore your film still studies, they look so simple on the closeup but finished at the same time. I guess it helps a lot with color and drawing different faces, I think I need to do this too.

and 2 further characters on the last picture really look 3d for me O_o

    cool stuff, man!

Love the face of the daemon and rest of the rendering so far. The composition is too loose in my opinion though. You could move the 3 figures together a lot more. There is just too much open space where nothing is going on I think.

    Looking forward to next step.

Rocko, thanks! I'm actually done with the piece, though. I don't know what to change compositionally. I'm still learning
