    IDW # 158 : The End of a Civilization - DoomBot

Topic: The End of a Civilization - DoomBot
    Deadline: Wednesday, March 9

The DoomBot ended a civilization in its prime, completely removing an entire planet's population. Who made it, what exactly it is, where it started and where it is now, when precisely the destruction occurred and why all of it happened is unknown. Speculation as to what sort of machine could remove an entire race from the universe has sparked the worry that this could happen again somewhere else, and intense research has commenced through out the United Planetary Coalition to try and prevent such an atrocity from being built once more.

Design the machine that ends the civilization. Keep in mind what type of civilization is was and how a bot would be able to produce the "best" response to those characteristics.

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw a DoomBot.
    2. That's it... now draw!

My idea is not a traditional Doomsday type robot (large, with big guns), but a small one that is meant to destroy any organic material, break it down and then use that as the raw material to replicate itself. Basically it works like a virus, until every organic material on the planet is destroyed.

Here are a couple of quick sketches I banged out during lunch break. Wanted to do more, but ran out of time. hopefully I can do some more tomorrow, cause there's nothing I'm in love with here.

    Crit is very welcome.

This is a cool topic, I hope people read the title and it sparks their interest. ROBOT everybody! That's fun and wild!

Themonet: This is a bit too simple and generic for a robot that caused the entire civilization to vanish. I know this is just a sketch, but I'd like to see an explanation as to how those arm joints and leg joints should work. Pistons? Right now they are just stuck together.
Those are meant as help, even if it reads like it sounds negative.

@Geth, @SaintLConcept - Nice robots, but I think you need to "up" the doom factor. Right now your doom is at about an 8, I'd like to see it at 11. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to change the design, if you look at Parsakoira's, the rendering is very doomy (maybe keep that in mind as you move forward). dragon4lunch has some death and doom worked into his design with the cow skull thing.

@dragon4lunch - the BW I think ADDS doominess, so it will be a challenge rendering it out and adding color without subtracting the doom. I'm looking forward to it

Guys, get your elaphantine behemoths of behinds into gear! You've got over 48 hours left for goodness sake. Only 6 sketches in as many days- the shame of it! Lurkers feel my evil eye of DOOM. Now stop whinning like little girls and draw.
