Thread: Black Tea┤s
February 28th, 2011 #1
Hi everyone, my name is Wil, i`ve been drawing since i was a lil kid but only recently started studying seriously, i`m selftaught. I`ve been lurking around conceptart for quite some time admiring the great artists around here, and i finally decided it was time to start a sketchbook, for the purpose of improving, of course, so i will greatly appreciate any tip of advice you can give me.
So today i will be posting some face studies, and i`ll update this sketchbook as often as i can, so i`ll thank any feedback you can give me from now on.

Wow, very nice start! Glad to see that you've got the pen/pencil skills down. More more more!

Thanks Cozmo, glad you liked it, time to dump what i`ve been doing lately, a lot of quick figure studies, some gesture drawings, more faces and a few sketches for some drawings in progress.

Here are some more studies i did today. I`m trying to get as good as i can with human anatomy and portraits, so i`m mostly doing studies such as these and some gesture drawing too, i was wandering if i was right focusing on these kind of studies, any piece of advise? Thanks! And i just realized my hands suck, so i`ll be probably drawing a lot soon.

I realized that hands were quite a weak spot so i started working on them, here is what i got done so far, i`d appreciate any piece of advice you can give me on my studies, thanks!

Here`s a bit more, i`m still trying to find a head drawing method i`m comfortable with, so i experimented a little, i`ll keep on doing that until i get the one for me. Any advice on this would be great.

Thanks a lot violet! i haven`t really had much practive with bridgman, i was trying to get some info on the reilly drawing method but i can`t seem to find anything that will help me with it. So far i like loomis the best, and you`re right about the chins!

Well, it seems somehow my scanner is not working, so this is going to be a shorter update than planned. I got my very first wacom a few days ago, so i have been playing with it, it`s awesome, so next updates should have more digital stuff. I`m new to digital painting so I would really appreciate any advice and help you guys could give me for my development as an artist. I`m still working on some of these but here they go.

Thanks surus! Well i`ve been lazy for some time. Now that i got a wacom i`ve been trying to figure out how to use colors, since i never tried them before ( i always worked with grayscales) and i seem to be having a lot of problems with them, i`m mainly trying to get some decent flesh tones, not easy. Here are some thingies i`ve done, i would really appreciate any advise on colors, maybe a book recommendation, basic theory, how to approach the subject, anything would help me, thanks in advance!

Some more crapy attempts to achieve decent skin, please tell me what you think!
