I'm not one for abstract but the locations and views from your window are quite lovely. I feel though that sometimes you try to over complicate things. The colours are a bit muddy in some pieces and it's really not needed in comparison to the gorgeous pieces you've made with much simpler composition.

Caspia – Thank you. I think, you have right that i over complicate my works sometimes. It is visible in watercolors, because need for reworking is higly dangerous. Colors are muddy sometimes, because of paper or paints or my color mixtures. That is reason i've bought book "Making Color Sing". I think it is great book about keeping colors clear.

    Watercolor 2011 Part 18 – Rainy street
Today two watercolors made from sketches (in this thread) and from senses and memory. I try to play with colors.

There is a nice foggy, atmospheric effect you are getting in the last one. I agree with Caspia's comment's, although I would qualify what she said, in that I don't believe muddy color's exist... Certain colors only look muddy when they are next to the wrong colors. Make some color charts with all of the colors you have in your pallette, each color on top of the dried version of every other color.. Make them so that you can take a sample with you in the field and compare the colors on your chart to the subject you're painting. Learn what your materials are capable of BEFORE you set out to capture you're subject..
IMO abstraction is best balanced with an understanding of it's opposite, literalism... maybe try some cast drawing? Try some exercises in a more realist style, exploring a very literal/photographic style of rendering form? You'd be surprised how taking on that kind of challenge can enhance your style.. Anyways, hope it helps!

Dark_Eyes – Thank You. I'll do this. Color is difficult for me, but i don't give up. I try to use color like other mediums, on my own rules. I feel comfortable, when i do what makes me fun, even if result is questionable. Now i work with Natural Way to Draw, Nicolaides and there is lot of different exercises. I do every one and i feel my approach changes.

Watercolor 2011 Part 19 – Plein air watercolors.

TomDeVis – Thank you. This was a first step of my drawing journey. I don't know i'm going now in right direction, but i do what i feel.

    Aquatone series.
Today abstract sequence made with Derwent Aquatone and bamboo pen and ink. Those three images are done one after another. Now i think, it was after Turners paintins, so it reminds me his paintings.

Great update! I think your watercolors are becoming a bit more vivid. Working with watercolors are really hard and can get frustrating, but with patience, can produce beautiful paintings. I think you can do it! Your latest pieces are really neat! I remember seeing paintings with that kind of style as well. Keep up the hard work! You're doing great!

Aresa – TY for your kind words.

Today I want to start new series from my last holiday.
Ink, bamboo pen, brush, water on Canson Montval. I don't like this paper, but for this work it was great choice.

The watercolors on post #94 are something ! Especially the one in the middle. Just a few colors and it feels like watching the landscape actually.

Will you do other watercolors soon ? By the way, I wondered, what makes you decide to switch to another media ?

Volute – Thank you. New watercolors will be soon, but only few. About switching media. You can see here, my favorites are pen and ink (fountain pen, bamboo pen and brush) and watercolors. Because a lot of my drawings are made outside as a sketchbook i prefere quick mediums (fountain pen and refill brush). But i love watercolors because i can play with them in the same matter. But like all my stuff it is matter of having fun. I want to draw what makes me happy.

Abstract drawings from mountains with bamboo pen, ink and water atomizer.

wow- I've never seen an ink and watercolour artist in the making!
how inspiring your sketchbook is! I am a great fan of pen and ink and admire your work and efforts. I am not a fan of abstract things (because I can't relate to them) but your life studies and landscapes are awesome. Keep it up

Digging the linework, man. Keep splashing the ink in there, they work well together.
