    Zenchuck's sketchbook

Hi all, I'm new to digital painting and I am needing to study the human form much more. I am starting a sketchbook to keep track of my progress and hopefully gain some good insight from the fellow artists here.

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to submit an entry to the character of the week for the next few weeks in an effort to improve my understanding of light/proportion/form/color/anatomy etc. etc. I have a background in traditional painting but no experience digitally. I have done some work texturing 3d models and it was my serious lack of anatomy and lighting knowledge that made me realize recently that I need to search for a deeper understanding. I hope my study will also translate into better success on the canvas

For this weeks entry I was painting in color but the colors were not in harmony and actually distracted from the piece - hence the monochrome.

    Cool stuff
The third Chow I think the left shoulder upper arm(right side) is a little odd, but thats just my opinion. Like you I'm trying to improve too.

Two more chow entries. The second one is still a wip for this weeks challenge.

As you can see my technique is all over the place. I haven`t settled into a workflow yet.

I met some really cool concept artists last week and it has inspired me to get back into the weekly CHOW competitions. I'll try and focus more on 2D for a bit.
