Thanks a lot guys, A LOT of it has to do with using the right brushes. a lot of these can be found on my site at shaddyconceptart.com. The other part of it is keeping the composition very simple. If you have some work you would like me to look at please feel free to forward it to me and if you Live in the Los Angeles Area I will be teaching at just about every art school in the area starting in January, Art Center, Otis, Art Institute Los Angeles and possibly Concept Design Academy. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions
Nice painterly renderings- I love that style where loose painting translates into realism when the viewer steps back!
Mission Control: "Buckaroo, The White House wants to know is everything o.k. with the alien space craft from Planet 10, or should we just go ahead and destroy Russia?"
Buckaroo Banzai: "Tell him yes on one and no on two."
Mission Control: "Which one was yes, go ahead and destroy Russia... or number 2?"
My colleague and I Nick Pugh just launched a new community site dedicated to Digital and Traditional Plein Air, check it out and post work! It's still BETA so let me know if you have any thoughts improvements or feedback the site is:
This is in the wrong section, should be in fine arts.
"Beliefs are rules for action"
"Knowledge is proven in action."
"It's use is it's meaning."
These are all beautiful ! I have tried digital plein air before and it was not very pretty. Constant shifting of shadow shapes lol
Just out of curiosity Approximately how long do you spend on an image? Also are you lassoing out selections before you paint them? ( just wondering about your approach.)

Awesome work, very inspiring! Thank you for posting your setup, great insight.
Man, these are amazing. The list of tools is invaluable for aspiring artists especially the shade box.
Freakin L-O-V-E this! I have had it in my brain that digital plein air was somehow possible but I thought I'd have to pioneer the set up. Thank you so much for explaining your system, it looks pretty awesome. My drawing tablet doesn't have shortcut keys so until I save up for the Intuos I'll have to make due.
