Hi. Long time no visit. Love the sub - now when are you going to build it and take me for a ride?

Snape - concentrate on the shadows before putting the details in. Pencil is great for that.

    Are we on!??

Hi guys, I think its working again so I though I would swing by and shock you all!!

Today I bought My first ever Graphics Tablet!! waaaagh! yes I know I should have done it years ago, but i didnt see the point when all my friends and advisors were saying leave the computer alone and get to work with pencils and bloody paper you tool!

So to test the waters I have bought a Bamboo pen and touch (medium) until I can afford something bigger and better!

I also promise that I will post something for you all very soon and stop being a lazy good for nothing!

    We are on.
I’ve started to lose hope, as you said it was an up and down period for CA, and I lost motivation
to post, lost motivation to visit these pages, cause of the constant breaks and errors,
but when some old true friends show up in my book
I just don’t have a heart to leave. I don’t want I cannot, I have a feeling that we are destined to
stay and to evolve right at this place at this point. Sometimes we regret because of the soils where
we were born, but we cannot change it, we have to go right through, to absorb the evil and filth
that some of the evil ones radiate.
We should celebrate, we should drink for your new tablet. Wacom is a true sign of quality and you
just stick with it. I will have a beer, and you have your thing, a weapon of choice of course.
I have to repeat, you’ve returned my faith this evening, and I want to see you post something
pretty soon, looking forward to it. Cheers.

Ok seems like we are on again!! Here is a copy of a figure by David T Wenzel, it is just a practice to get a little better with the new tablet (not used one before)

I hasten to add he is a practice and not a finished article and I am interested in hes gesture and the implied movement.

nice to be back guys and all the best to you

Cheers My mate! I have not been that far away and have been working, on movement characters, lighting, landscapes and lord knows hat else!

anyway I was playing around last night while stopping my boys from bickering and arguing over who did what to whom in the X-Box and created this, and thought it would be worth your feedback.

hey Lightship! How are you doing? I'm happy to see you still around here! And it seems that you are very busy even if you don't show us so much. I'm sorry that I can't say much about the latest piece, it's nothing there I have the knowledge to say something helpful. I'm better for drawings or paintings. So I can just tell you, that I like the last pencil drawing. Good movement, good lines in some parts. The head works well, maybe you could've put a bit more time into the hands.
Are you up to some new projects?

What?? The last pic you made is really amazing! The whole scene of the diving and swirling clocks in the sea of cosmos look so natural! Your skills and artistic senses have upgraded much apparently!

yow lightbox. realy like those watches over the sea. wondering how you did that. did notice the dwarf. and as im too lazy to do anything for myself, I thought I'd bother you about lines of actions and directional twists. its what you were studying there anyway.
here's an example. start your drawing with the line of action, show the twists with beans or boxes, then continue from there.

    OK to the replies!!

Rhubix - thank you my friend as I said its a david Wenzel copy and I wanted the energy and movement that he gets in his little chapies, and it was a try so enough said. The other thing was just getting to grips with my first graphics tablet as well which still feels a bit weird.

Valyavande _ Hi there nmatey how are you doing?? I hope you are well and fighting fit! yes I know what you are saying it was the energy and gesture that was the main thing I was looking for in that, thanks for the crit.

Untier - thank you my friend for the nice words, Its a 3d image that still needs a tweak to get it how I want it to be but its ok.

Ashess - Hi there matey! long time no see I hope you are well and working hard. Thanks for the crit it was very useful, and you were right it was one of a series of gesture experiments that I did whilst trying to get used to my graphics tablet. As to the "Time and spce" image, its a load of clocks in a spiral with a nebula in the background. Its a painted background imported into a 3d package with clocks in 3d space in the fore. Complicated but fun to do.

Nice new stuff here. I like the gesture study too. As for the 3D image perhaps make the perspective a bit more extreme, so that it actually looks like the clocks are coming right towards us? Make the once at the back smaller and the ones at the front bigger etc.

Hey LS thanks for stopping by man, your face is always a welcome one around my sketchbook. First off all i love that sub, i for some reason didn't pick up on it before. Some of the the shots in which the thrusters are visible are really interesting. The 4th and last are really cool, i find myself adding some internal narrative to them which is always a good sign . I like the watches too, Reminds me of something out of those Myst games or of those old school games where you had to do a thing that since have fallen out off fashion... I do believe it's called thinking. Keep up the good work man!

It’s been a long time again, plenty of sand has been moved from one location to another,
years and years back Mary had a little lamb, but things ain’t the same anymore. The
downside viscosity of Mary’s sister has been drastically increased by both chart and
graph values. You’ve kept up the good spirit and continued to create mind chilling
visual beauties. The watches in space are gorgeous, the only question remains is to
discuss, are they waterproof or not. The fourth dimension represents the time and
motion in galaxy, does time travel really exists? You’ve summoned a lot of questions
with this piece and I am very happy about that fact. Hope you and family are allright,
I will be here around, waiting for some more new updates from you. Take care till then,
and don’t stop with the beer mind made, soul liquifying process.

I suppose it looks better, however my twisted imagination
and noob eyes cannot distinguish the steps that you did
from the last one. Either way, good that you are working
and that you are in a good spirit. Keep on sharing

The latest image is looking really cool, like the repeating shapes though out the image. Interesting textures in the background too, good use of value!

It was not a wasted effort, you did some sweet changes there on that space clocks.
The industrial environment with the rusty pipes, old walls, hazardous barrels is
looking hot, I think that you are expanding your three dee skills in a very specific
gorgeous fashion, without any distraction. I can feel the bad aroma of the half rotten
zombies around these barrels, they are all wanting a hot acid bath in that green slime.
An overpaint of this environment will bring this piece to it’s highest peak point,
and it will be ready for your portfolio burn. A slippery goose could run through
a noose, but you ain’t gonna fail, not now not ever, you are only becoming better.
Bring some more drippy refreshing fluid over the desert thirsty fans of yours.

Hi folks here is a glimpse of the latest project which is to create a set of story pages for the classic "Gingerbread Man tale", I was chatting with Christina (black delphin) on face book and she suggested that it could be a good portfolio set to do because of its global recognition. I thought this was a brilliant idea and thought also that it might be interesting to try to do these same sets in two or three different styles. Opionions please as to the idea and the quality.

The story bits are as follows :-

    the basic shape

    the escape from the oven

out of the door and the run cycle.

Thanks my mate it was a right royal pain in the arse to get somewhere near correct. The running motion had to be referenced and then I buggered about using a cut out 2d gingerbread man taped to my manequin ha ha ha, I am so glad no one came by for coffee or I could be in a room with soft walls now!!

Anyway over the last hour I have thrown together a concept image to see if it works as a whole.

Usual opinions please does the run gesture look reasonable does it sell an action, can it tell a story. The image in my mind is going to be a street scene with the Baker chasing him as per the original story.

    improved the concepts

you might bnot be able to tell but I have reworked the gingerbread dude some more mainly for my own benefit and to get the ideas working better in my minds eye, this dude is a concept and a thorough work in progress so comment away and point out all the bits you dont like and why please.

Hmmm... The gesture is clear but I personally think the third from the last in #474 (I really like that drawing ) would be more for a running away scene, it has a nicer flow and suggests a more "passionate" running... I'm having problems with words right now The current one isn't very far from that one, it almost works for me but I think pushing it a bit more and making it flowier is a good thing in this case.
Besides, I think the gingerbread man should be a bit more cute. I know it's not easy with such a face but the big nose doesn't help, he looks like a clown. I looked at some gingerbread man pictures, some of them looks stupid but there are cuter ones too, without a nose or a small one, not a big one like yours. The curve of the mouth can make a difference too. Try out a few versions, it's very important to create a more easily likeable character.

Ha ha ha ha I think you might be right there that long stretch and arm movement does sell the run better doesnt it!

I hear you with the face issues to, I rather liked the one from the shrek film he was cute but I needed the eyes to help tell the story and sell the run gesture so I couldnt use his blank eyes. I rather like the big sweetie for his nose too. but never fear we shall try more things. I have an improved concept for you to look at as well.

Cant decide on what tree to use to frame the picture on the left, I just feel it needs something, but the great big maple blank I have shoved in isnt right! I think I might try a silver birch its lighter coloured and goes with the childrens story light airy feel...... er I think.

Its nice to hear from you by the way my mate, I hope you are well and happy, thanks for the quality feedback and as usual you have given me loads to think on.
