    Cool Sketches and stuff

    Hey guys!

I tried keeping a sketchbook thread a year or so ago but I never kept up with it. Since it's a brand new year I figured I'll start a new thread and maybe actually keep this one updated.

Please feel free to leave me comments. I always can use help on getting better.

Please see last posts for the newest pieces

Some cool things here, I love the concept of the watercolour painting with the deer. And the chicken idea is just cute! Seems like this sketchbook is going to be interesting

Wow, really great great things going on here. That last watercoulour is gorgeous. I had an idea like that too actually lol. What I like the most is teh different aproaches to rendering, from soft gradients to very liberal hatching. No critique to offer, since you are quite above from me in terms of skill. Keep up the nice work!

Thank you Morderischen! I personally think you can give good constructive criticism while being in any skill level technically in drawing and painting. If you see something that could be better I would love to hear it! After all that's how we can learn and get better

    Wonderfull!
Do you drew the birds from a photoref or from life?
Post #8 is really great, the little redish areas make look the blue alive! Although the shoulders are somehow strange...
Your pencil sketches have alot of volume!!
    Keep going!

Very nice rendering, but some of the pencil work seems a mite blotchy. Might just be me though.

RyanRyan: Thanks! I'll try to my best to keep this updated

ex-Machina: The birds were all stock photos i found on Deviantart. Unfortunately i don't have much of an access to live or stuffed birds right now. i would love to be able to draw them from life though. As for the watercolor painting, i referened an old sketch, which was referenced from a photo. the shoulder probably looked okay in my old sketch and it just got lost in translation and I didnt pay much attention to that. I will definitely keep that in mind for my future pieces. Thank you for the comments!

Falchion: I just got back to pencil sketches a few months back so i'm still working on improving my technique. Thanks for pointing it out!

    Thanks Monstertree!

Wow I haven't posted anything new in a while. Here's something I'm working on right now. I haven't painted too many portraits in photoshop so I figured I'd give it a try. I've met a couple of amazing artists in the last couple of weeks and they make me want to be better at things i'm not good at. Please feel free to comment if you have any suggestions that would help me improve!

I'm liking what your doing here I think you could use more contrast, at least on that last girl, It might also be your monitor thats not showing the colors correctly

DStraX, you're right! there's not enough contrast. I messed with it more and gave up on the clothes and the hair...I guess you can call it done....

Awesome sketches! Your drawings make me very clam and relaxed for some reason. Anymore Sketches you can post? The only thing I can see is that the eye might be a little small on the last painting. Keep posting.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Bolo: Yeah I noticed her eye is kinda small compared to the reference photo I used...I tried making it bigger but i guess it didn't really work cause its still too small...I'll have to watch out for it next time I do a portrait. And thank you! I have stuff from last year that I could post but I'm trying to keep everything in this thread from 2011. I have a few more pages in my sketchbook too but I'm currently away from home and don't have access to anything but my laptop so I can only post things I draw on my computer. I try my best to draw a lot but it hasn't worked out that well just yet...But I'm happy that people are interested in my art

Wow I haven't posted in a long time! I finally manned up and bought my own scanner. It works pretty well so far. I scanned a few things from march.

this is just some watercolor practice of fruits. unfortunately i was too lazy to buy my own fruits so i ended up using photos instead...
