    Most craft stores have a selection of turned bases...most will just be routed with a decorative edge, { I believe that is what you mean.}

    If you are asking about a trophy like base (like old candle holders shape) i would like to know also where i can find some of those.
    But if you are asking for turned base, like lazy susan for sculpting...i got mine from IKEA, i believe its a fruit display thing it cost me 5 euro!

    turned bases

    i have looked in craft shops in the uk with not a lot of luck i did find some in london but they were only one size and realy expensive for what they are. but im actuly thinking more like candel stick types of things (not sure if the image is showing but basicaly that sort of thing.)ikea might be worth a look for both turn tables and candel sticks i can cut down.

    You've probably already done this, but I just googled "helmet display stand" and found quite a few that were similar. www.redskytrader.com has a couple that are about 17 inches tall and sell for 15 and 18 usd. They don't have the "lathe turned" look as the LOTR helmet displays do, but I'm sure with a little work they could look near them if that's exactly what you want.

    Ok, now I see what you are trying to do...find a lumber yard that sells stair parts ie: Picketts, newels, spires and posts...they are lathe turned and you could cut them into multiple stands.
