theres not a great deal wrgon with these, i like the colours on 11/02. with the eyes, study how much of the circular iris is cut off at the top and bottom, this is a very important part of expression. Someone whos full fo adrenaline, or looking down at you, will have a white space above their iris, making their eyes look wide and staring. someone whos sleepy will have much of the top halfcut off, and look drowsy, etc

Velocity Kendall Thanks for the advice man, i'll be sure to do lots of studies of eyes in the near future and take what you said on board.

Also, in relation to what Velocity Kendall said, I thought i'd try something abit different. Still abit screwed up but I lol when I finished this.

Thanks for taking the time to see my progess.

Tonight I tried to be more delibrate with my colour. Cold light, warm shadows. Think it worked..

Also, I managed to fuck up the eyes again. Kinda annoying

Tomorrow I do lots of eye studies in my sketchbook...

Ill try and get them scanned and show them on here.

Exon-Ion Thanks for the encouragement man, its greatly appreciated
Also, LOTS of traditional stuff on there way soon. Thanks for the tip.

Bad news. The pen with my tablet broke today, so my digital art is out the window till I get it replaced

Also, I dont have a scanner so its a real pain in the ass to get my traditional stuff onto this thread...

Still doesnt stop me from doing my portraits though, i'll prob upload the weeks on friday or saturday until i get my tablet sorted (R.I.P wacom bamboo)

Been a while since I did some pencil stuff, and to be honest, i'm really not feeling it. Not only is my pencil stuff really crappy but I struggle to get into it =/

(Also, I think its worth pointing out I drew this on a angle, and when I came to look at it straight on, it looked stretched. oops lol.)

Heres todays crappy attempt anyways, any suggestions, crits etc etc as always, are greatly appreciated

Velocity Kendall Thanks alot man, your advice on the eyes helped me alot with that one. And thanks also for visiting my sketchbook again.

Ive been doing traditional stuff which ill scan in tomorrow over the week ive been away from this sketchbook. It still kinda sucks and i find it hard to get into pencil drawing. Kinda feels to restricting, maybe ive been spoilt by photoshop

Anyways, i got a new tablet so my digital paints are back. (Ill continue with the traditional stuff also).

    Peace

Also, pencil will have to wait because my crappy day job is making it difficult for me to scan it in.

Tiredness and work are hampering my practice time
    What is one to do?

Todays was hard. I used muted pallet to try and further convey the expression. Think my eye knowledge is getting beter also.

Practice on male anatomy and lighting.

Yet another area which needs working on.

Also, i just noticed, perhaps its a sign that im doin to many self portraits when any other face i try to paint ends up looking like my own =///

    Abe Sapian, hellboys mate.

Bit of a random portrait and done in very short amount of time, but prob one of the most fun portraits ive ever done.

The day i can free style characters like this from imagination will be a great day. ;p

Also, prob not even worth loading up but a few 5 minute brain fart/environment/brush experiment/composition experiments done yesterday.

I guess yesterdays dude was stuck in my head.

1st portrait ive free styled and this just kinda came out. Laters when experimenting with brushes I managed to fuck it all up by doing it all one 1 layer

    Anyways, daily portrait update.

Heres one of my characters I built for college. Started with a sketch in photoshop, then built and textured in 3DS Max and finally touched up again in photoshop.
