    Nestor's Superhot Sketchbook

Hello everyone, this is my first post. My goal is to become a freelance illustrator/concept artist, i have been drawing on and off for the past three years.

I am going to upload my sketches and studies here, so feel free to drop in and say hi.

    Hello, Nestor, welcome to ConceptArt!

Some interesting work so far, certainly. You have not declared any aims so I hope this general advice is of use and not too pedantic.

It looks like you are training a proper sense of detail in terms of shapes - shoulder blades, vertebrae, folds of flesh and veins. However, the proportions are not very comfortable, leading the good details to have a certain lack of cohesion and fall apart. It may do you good to do some heavy pre-drawing, tracing (straight) lines horizontally and vertically to see how things inter-relate. It helps to think of proportions as a separate task - i.e., you can be good at shading but not at proportions and train them separately.

A little note on shading - you have shaded these drawings almost as-if they are marble, perhaps because the highlights are strong and shadows straight. Real flesh has several layers of differing properties and capturing that leads, I believe, to a sense of warmness and physicality.

Keep drawing and I hope to see more!

    hello,

good start. nice bum detail. lol.

it would be more useful to say a little bit about your background and where you want to go in your first post. then people can help you more.

first advice is to draw the head and legs as well as just the torso.

OhgodIloveyouranatomy. I think it would wicked if you posted a surrealist sort of painting with your anatomical details focused on like the torso of a person. Dunno, sorry for spouting out random words.

This sketch started as a portrait and it turned into a little story about a humanoid private investigator in the future. I had fun doing this cause it's really lose and unrefined. A friend of mine thought he looked like a fish, i'm not really sure what he is so for the time being he shall be known as Fatface....... Detective Fatface.
