Intuos2 more expensive than PLAT. version? why

Im in the process of purchasing a tablet (6x8) and I want the platinum version but whereever I go (canadian online retailers), the platinums are always cheaper than the old regular intuos2's. Why is this? mistake or something? or are those ones better than the new platinums? thnx alot.

Hello, from what I've gathered the only "major" difference that I can think of is that the Platinum is "USB" connection. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But for some reason thats all I can remember.
Oh I'm sorry I never read your post correctly. Hmm I didn't notice that the Platinums are cheaper?? Sorry can't help then.

    Hi,

As far as I can see by reading the Wacom page linked below, the Platinum Intuos 2 is just a chnage in appearance, or style, a "...new, sophisticated Platinum look", and the fact that they have USB connections and only come in two sizes, 6 x 8 and 9 x 12.

Press Release: Essential Photo-Editing Tool Goes Platinum

In that Press Release, it looks like the other specifications are given for Intuos 2 tablets in general, not only for the Platinum Intuos 2 tablets, so it would appear they are the same.

I have a 6 x 8 Wacom Intuos 2 tablet, not Platinum, and it has a USB connection, 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, and higher resolution than the Graphire tablets.

If you really want to know, go to the Wacom site at http://www.wacom.com or give them a call to ask specific questions.

Please do not PM me with Painter questions. Instead, post them here where everyone can benefit from them. Thanks!

Thanks for your help. I already got myself a platinum version. The store I purchased it had the intuos2 (regular) at a price which had not been updated in a while so thats the reason .
