First Post, 1/4 scale Vincent Price

Greetings all, first time poster, so feel free to offer thoughts and advice. The photo is of a 1/4 scale Vincent Price I am working on as a desk piece for my wife, who is a huge Price fan. SuperSculpey Firm is the medium, still have to finish up the collar and base, but the face is complete. Thanks for taking a look!

wow. i'm not sure if it's just me, but the eye's look a bit freaky, probably due to the fact that I can't find the pupils. which, honestly, is awesome looking. I love it. great work and keep it up

here's a couple of pictures of the finished Vincent Price bust including one of him sitting in the dome which will go on my wife's desk. . The dome is a touch too big, but it is one we had on hand so it'll do for now anyway. Thanks for taking a look!

Martinmack:

Consider adding to the base...maybe mounting your sculpture on a round or square of marble, alabaster, or some other material. It would add to the visual stability and mass even if it is already balanced. When I go to resale shops I am always looking for old trophies I can scavenge parts from! You could also build up a base by buying marble or granite tile from Home Depot and cutting it up with a tile cutter and stacking it.

Hi BF, thanks for your input and I do agree that as substantial base would look even better than the simple dome, but the piece is displayed on my wife's desk at work and needed to be pretty small so it didn't get in her way. The dome was essential since most people just love to pick stuff up and look at it...which is really something we wanted to avoid! I have been thinking of casting a copy of this one so I can have one at home too, and in that case I'd be able to experiment more with the base.
