    What other graphic design tools does my boyfriend need?

    My boyfriend is going to college for graphic design. I gave him a graphic design tablet for his birthday and he already has photoshop. I don't know a lot about graphic design. Are there any other graphic design tools will help him in college and also use in his future job?

    "Adobe InDesign" for Print-Layouts and "Adobe Illustrator" for Vector Work are both essential for Graphic Design. If he doesn't have them yet, I'm sure he can get a cheap student version of the important Adobe Products via his School. Better, get him some motivational Stuff, or Graphic Design or Typography Books

    It may sound obvious or perhaps too primitive to someone who is use to working on a computer, but you can't go wrong with some good markers, especially fine-tipped black markers. Or perhaps a set of prismacolor markers for layout sketches. At least, that's what my professors insist on. Maybe someone else with more experience can confirm this.

    We always used rotring pens for fine and precise technical work. I'd look into getting him graph paper, T-square a drawing board, a portfolio case for his works, and some sweeties Designers are always hungry.

    @danewalker

    I'm sorry but you don't need a macbook pro for Graphic Design or any other design course for that matter. Any Laptop with a decent amount of ram and a good cpu can do.
