hey man it looks like you could use some edge control on the last one, just to show better which forms are closer and which ones are farther

hey guys, sorry for not responding, i been eating and drinking constantly for days. merry xmas to you all!
W73, thats totally easy, its a photo of a marbled page, (google marbling) on an overlay layer. the layer blending options are awesome tools and definitely worth a bit of your time to see how they work.

i should poiint out that image is an overpaint of an original by Obier, i just added some stuff like corpse, parachute, worms, but the image is still his.

Man so many different styles here, its very cool! Some stuff is really really interesting!

For your 3D work are you using LWF as the light distribution sometimes looks a little off. Might just be more though since I just woke up

hey VK thanks for stopping by my humble SB again, apologies for not commenting more often here because I often feel out of my depth!
I like the warped interior, good sense of light around the door especially. what is that thing on the floorboards though? looks like a clock...?

Nice update! I too like the warped kitchen, also the lady in the (french?) garden. It has a beautiful use of tone and color.
I really don't know what to crit. Maybe in the last one you could add some definition to the figures? Although may be it would be conflicting with your loose textured style.

hehe hello, thanks!! that city is lisbon, i went there in november for a meeting and had a good look round, was fucking great. i live in cambridge which is a lot less interesting!

thank you very much indeed! that garden is from the start of The masterful blackmailer, a sherlock homes story i saw at Christmas with Jeremy Brett. Was really artfully made for a cheapo Granada tv show i thought.
the kitchen was somethng that happened in The Anubis Gate by Tim powers and was the sort of magical equivalent of a radiation leak i think; there was no explanation, just that where the bad sorcerer had done a desperate magical attack and then fled, the kitchen was all impossible warped. I liked that idea a lot, i really like kitchens.,

krysjez thaknks! i thought maybe it was some magic chalk marks or maybe potato pelings? what do you think?

    whirly
good advice! i have real trouble with the lighting, not enough photons or too many photons, its not pretty, there are guys out there who can render stuff like its real but ive no idea how, pure skills!

mirl1n ha thanks! i m inspired seeing guys like you out there creating awesome stuff and wanting to tag along that drives me to struggle with this wacom.. im too impatient by half!

asa thankyou sir! right back at you, your stuff all looks like it was rigourously designed by some crazy strong AI in the future, love it

Let me say that you probably render with more potency than the vast majority of people I've met in Architecture school. During the course of my own studies, I discovered that there's quite a bit of difference between designing something and then visualizing that something . It is a sad observation that very few architects have any talent whatsoever for visualization (myself included). This is probably why most of us are content with diagrams and mappings of silly things. That is to say, perspectival representations were encouraged and then subsequently loathed by our professors. "This illustration is object oriented". Shit.

You mentioned something about being unable to make your rendering look more photo-realistic? This is the tip/trick I was taught: the problem with 3D renderings is that most rendering engines do not utilize, by default, lens aberrations. Imperfections in the imagery will result, quite paradoxically, in more realistic renderings. There are probably more lens aberrations than the day is long, but depth of field and vignetting are two big ways to immediately add realism. I don't know what software you're using, but some of these effects can just be added in Photoshop, or the like. You may already know this, in which case I'm just being boring.

Personally, the most exciting representations of Architecture that I've seen have been, generally, more abstract (which is why I like your work). I also enjoy this guy's work: http://www.vigilism.com/

In my own work, I tend to eschew realism in favor of informational layering and unorthodox methods of representation. Then again, I don't have clients with expectations.

Good luck with your work, and I hope that you continue to post your artwork on CA. It's been hugely inspirational to me.

fuck i keep losing my posts somehow

anyway what I said was Fez i owe you one thats a seriously interesting post and i may have some follow up questions when ive absorbed it if thats ok?
i really dig your procedural forms too, again, questions..

ive been enjoying tim powers over christmas, in his stories magic is scary in the same real way a grenade or virus is scary, but also really strange.
i thought this might be what some kind of magical bomb might look like before it goes off or something..

"Doyle bounded through the kitchen doorway whirling his sword in a wild figure eight in front of him-but Doctor Romany was gone. Doyle skidded to a halt on the dirt floor and looked around at first with caution, then with amazement-for though the kitchen was splashed with smokily blazing oil, he could see that the shelves, benches, tables and even the stone fireplace were al warped, pul ed toward the center of the room as though they were forms painted on a taut sheet of rubber that had been pushed far in at the middle."

ill try again when i can draw and paint better
