good work getting your first one done, now do a second!

take a bit of extra time to compare colours, and ask questions like
"is the colour i have put down darker or lighter than the object i am studying?"
"is it more red of more blue?"
"is it greyer or more saturated?" etc, etc.
the same goes with drawing, is this point in line with that, is the higher than that.

with the value study on the last page it may help to put a value scale, from 1 to 10 or 1 to 5,
next to or on the study to help make the comparison.

    and of course keep working!

You're showing much improvement from your first drawing posted here. I really like the model under the apple.

As for the apple, you should definitely spend more time on it and don't rush it.

    Keep up the studies! Later

you're obviously getting better, but i have to say: apply yourself!

i can see sometimes you make progress with techniques and then slip back into old ways, i guess that's the thing when you learn from books: good while they are still fresh in your mind, harder to remember and implement when not around.

    Keep rocking on!

    Lei Lei colour practice (w.i.p)

samthemule Thanks man I know that my techniques can often drift off when actually drawing something when ever is an object or even anything really. But however I really need to find time to actually draw for hours on an everyday basis. Cheers for the comment .

bish0p2004 Hi there yes I did really rushed it with the apple on that one, I was actually thing of different speed painting techniques as I've seen em on artist blogs and you-tube vids. Glad you've liked the model been working on it like a solid week lol.

Hey all just here to post a line art practice I've found on Deviantart. The line art is done by Stanley Lau which is one of my favorite digital painters in Singapore. The character is Lei Lei from darkstalkers and she's looking cool so far. Will finish it throughout the weekend so hopefully before sunday. If you wanna look at Stanley's work here's his DA page. http://artgerm.deviantart.com/

    Night sketch 1

Sup y'all sorry for not posting a while back I've been ill . I've just did a quick sketch & I just wanted to show you it before I sleep. Hope the file isn't too massive which by the way I suck at looking at the right size when saving it as jpeg, so if you guys have any good tips on saving small jpef files let me know please .

I'm gonna have to disagree with this. I believe gesture should be mastered before anything else then proceed with studying form and then and only then start your rendering studies

You shouldn't rush your stuff. Most of the things feel rushed with the mindset " If I draw a lot , I'll get better. " If you're using Photoshop and have a reference in there as well , flip the canvas multiple times ( not all at once though ) and you'll start seeing your own mistakes and can correct them. For example with the chick you referenced , there are giant mistakes , the butt is too wide , the torso is sloping differently , the hand rests on the same level as the left butt-cheek. Squint your eyes as well , you'll see values and shades much easier , I don't know why but it works.

    Anyway , good luck.
