    IDW # 151 : Remote Control Ornithopter

    IDW # 151 : Remote Control Ornithopter

    Topic: Remote Control Ornithopter

Ornithopters are flying machines that operate by the flapping of wings. They usually try to imitate the movements of bats, birds, and insects. This ornithopter is to be remote control so it can be used with little risk to human lives for reconnaissance missions and must also avoid detection at all cost. Examples of the reconnaissance missions it will undertake are varied and range from the tracking of a single person to the mapping of alien cities.

    Inspiration and Information:

    Wikipedia on Ornithopters

    Wikipedia on Aerial Reconnaissance

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw a Remote Control Ornithopter.
    2. That's it... now draw!

Final entries must be posted in the final thread.

    WIP,
i was so caught up in trying to make the design coherent with actual laws of the universe and the description that i was stressing myself out

...then i realized that i was only mean to design its appearance not actually make it.

May not get the chance to finish it though.

Nice, I think I'll switch mine up though... I can just picture the thought process
    'Ornithopter...hmm, everyone's gonna do a bat...I know, Dragonfly!'

At least that's how it went in my head

Thought I'd give this one a go with a scarab-inspired design.

Here's my new Ornithopter, don't know that it's any better than the dragonfly... but it's different.

Back view of the scarab. I feel a lot more satisfied with this version of the wings, now, compared to the wings of my first sketch.

Edit: Realized the wings should show over the back.
