By Taking life day by day. Turns out Depression and anxiety are past and future. When you look way back into your past and think of all the heartbreaks and missed opportunities you get depressed and when you think of the future and all the unseen events and bills and daily struggles you get anxious.
So taking life day by day, living the current day as if its the last one seems to do the trick for me. I wake up and i say i have 16 hours for me to live and nothing more. I try to finish as much work, art and tasks as much as i can in this small period of time and when its time to sleep i dont think of whats coming i say thats it i may never wake up so why bother with whats coming. I lay my head and rest with a smile on my face thinking only of the good day i had and nothing more.

Also getting rid of the negative ppl is a BIG help. I had so many negative ppl and energy thieves around me that were keeping me down even more. The moment you let go of them you will feel relieved. Always protect your energy from the negative ppl they feed on it and leave you miserable.

I dont know how it worked so fast after so long but somehow, thinking that the worse thing that can happen is death is such a relief. Once you know that everything gona end whether you liked it or not sets you free from going back and forward with ur brain. Hell even my panic attacks stopped when i stopped trying to control everything. Control my states, my heart beats and my fears. Once you let go of all control your mind rest.

If you feel like your overwhelmed and need help dont wait go seek help from a Psychiatrist. I didnt go to anyone, i just made peace with my mind. We dont fight on daily bases anymore.

One last note, quit all the bad stuff... drugs, alcohol, smoking.. all those have the worse effect on ur mind.. I quit smoking, caffeine, sugar and salt in one day. Took me a month to get over it and then my body thanked me. Im now waking up at 4 am and sleeping at 9:30. and it feels great.
Put some motivational audios and go for a run in the early morning and you gona feel amazing.

In the end.. all it takes is a change of mind. You cant keep doing the same things and hope for a change.. u need to sacrifice the bad comfort zone you are in that is depressing you with a better comfort zone that will ease your mind.

    Hope that helps
    All the best

My god where do you find the discipline to do all those in depht studies? I cant even force myself to do simple studies of anatomy and perspective. Can you teach me your ways please? How do I get so disciplined?

I have been where you are right now and i can simply tell you how.. start a youtube channel, a facebook page and an instargram account just for your art. Start a schedule to upload twice a week. It will force you to work even when you dont feel like it coz u need to upload. It will force you to do the work even in the blue days.
Try it and let me know if it worked out for u

Thanks for the advice and all. The problem I think I have is that I'm addicted to instant gratification, videos games, watching youtube for hours on useless stuff, watching movies. I cant seem to muster enough will power to follow through with the work that is neccesarry to do in art. I feel no "pleasure", I dont get any dopamine spike when drawing/painting so I just give up. Why this is the case I have no idea. Maybe I need to force myself to become good enough so drawing/painting actually becomes "fun". Maybe I need have lower standards so I dont get discouraged when I dont manage to make super awesome art. Thats another thing that depresses the fuck out me. I see all these amazing artists and their artwork then I look at the shit Im capable of doing and get depressed which leads to more videosgames and youtube binge watching so I can numb the feeling. Have you ever feel like this before?

A solution might be to figure out what I find "fun" to draw and just do that. The problem is it might not be what the market is in demand of and so I wont be able to make a living off of it. Another thing that I have a super hard time with is proper studying. It takes such a long time to learn and understand things properly and with the way my brain is right now I simply dont have the mental ability to focus for that long. I have to cut out all the instant dopamine out of my life to be able to get to where I want to be but I dont know how. Actually I do know how I just simply dont do it........

The best solution to this would be if you'd be able to enjoy the process without the results affecting you. I just dont know why I cant enjoy it and how to change that.

    Nice portraits btw.

I think the answer is in the first few sentences you said.. "I'm addicted to instant gratification".. Sadly this isnt the case with art. Its the complete opposite. Its a very long and slow process with thousands of hours of patience and hard work for few minutes of satisfaction. But not to worry cause I have been in ur position for years. I kept stopping and starting art for over 10 years till i finally became serious about it. I think if you want to be serious about it too you have to change more then few habits. You need a new way of life. This will sound like im selling you some hippy crap but for real the hour you wake up at and the food you eat and the physical exercises you do or dont play a big role in your mindset and the amount of will power that you have through out the day.

If you wake up at 4-5 am, go for a run and mediate for 10 min a day, eating only healthy food and doing cardio and walking everyday, you will find yourself with a lot more will power then you normally have. Art is basically a mind game. If you dont have the patience for it in ur mind you already lost the game. But dont worry patience is a skill not a gift. You can train yourself to have more patience then you do now by doing timed drawings. For example sit and draw for 10 whole minutes without being distracted. If you can do that for a week everyday, push it to an hour. then 2, then 5 uninterrupted session. The more you do it "Daily" the more you grow your patience and will power toward drawing.

Like i said in the previous comment. start a youtube channel or instagram or facebook. The pressure of keeping a schedule will push you to deliver on daily bases. Do things like inktober where you draw everyday for 30 days. Challenge yourself to do one drawing or a study a day no matter what. All the attribute you talked about of being patience, or being able to learn fast, or the rest of the good habits comes with practice. Even the bad habits like the addiction to instant gratification can be removed with practice. Nothing is instance when it comes to the mind and the way it learns. Its like you want to be a body builder in a week its not possible.

The cycle of video games, youtube , depression and then more video games is very familiar to me coz i'v been there. But you know what after a while even playing video game start to lose its charm when you do it a lot, its like you always gona have this nagging voice in your head that tells you that you should be drawing now. The thing is Art is a curse that you cant escape once you try it. The voice will never leave you until you fulfill it by drawing. You just need to rewire your brain differently.

Finally try to do a schedule. I know this is the worse thing to do for some ppl but dont go crazy. Schedule 3 things to do a day. A drawing, a portrait and a study everyday. 1 hour each. 3 hour a day isnt that long. If you made it then playing video games after it will be ur reward. It will even feel different knowing that you did your daily job and now you can sit back and enjoy the game. Try that too see how it works along with the other things i mentioned.

Let me know how it goes

t has been a while since i practiced figure drawing so this session was a good way to shake the rust away. I decided to use anatomy 360 to draw the same pose but in 360 degrees, to follow each part of the body in different positions. Very educational session
3 hours in total (15 min each pose)

Also getting rid of the negative ppl is a BIG help. I had so many negative ppl and energy thieves around me that were keeping me down even more. The moment you let go of them you will feel relieved. Always protect your energy from the negative ppl they feed on it and leave you miserable.

    All the best

I identify with all of this a lot. I also cut out all the bad stuff and got my body in really good shape. Once I did all that, I came back to 2D. It's where I have wanted to be all along. Keep up the great work.

A quick 3 hours digital painting to blow off some steam while working on new videos for youtube. I always love these colored lit portraits. It gives a whole new perspective to painting skin tones without the normality of white colored light. Really enjoyed this one
