Is it selfish to buy gifts for yourself?

I often get stuff for myself, and my parents bought gifts for me.but I never gave them gifts. This year I bought myself this ticket to being b&,and still remain in selfish. So what do you think of me?
    - do you buy presents for yourself?
    - do you hate spending money on others?

Depends, if you're asking yourself this, then you're insecure by it. By your own definition that would be being selfish.

I just think it's polite to get things for other people. Usually comes back to pat you on the back when you do as well, has for me.

    Of course it's selfish.

What you're really asking, is if it's okay to be selfish. The fact that you bring this question to a board of strangers tells me you already have your answer, and you don't like that answer very much.

Pathetic spamming attempt. I'll give you 2/10 and even that's generous.

Yes. You are a very selfish person. You should think of what you have done.

Does that mean I'll be seen as a selfish person if I buy myself a house? Cause you know, its cold in this box under this bridge :/

I think you're feeling a touch guilty about not buying your parents stuff when you bought yourself something. That's just how your post reads. ...I'm curious as to why you linked to the pocket knife. But perhaps that indeed is spam. o_O

Not selfish, just stupid. Looking for that perfect present, no matter how small, for someone you love and then seeing them appreciate it, is something you have never experienced. Giving with the right frame of mind and feelings is worth 100 times then treating just yourself.

It's not selfish. The pursuit of one's own rational self-interests and happiness is the highest moral purpose in life. Man exists as an end to himself, it is not his purpose to be an end for others. One shouldn't sacrifice himself for others nor sacrifice others for himself.

    /Rand

Winterwinter you don't have to always buy gifts to show someone appreciation. Though it's nice to return the favor.

Out of curiosity you never thought of giving your parents a little something during the holidays or birthdays(Year, after year...after year?)

    Meh, probably spam.
