I'm really really impressed by your massive production! Are you a machine or something?
Seriously, regarding your work, quantity rhymes with quality, so I'm pretty jealous!
Your ability to produce more and more art is awesome, and have a great consequence : you are improving your art every day!
Azsha: Oh man! XD Haha, I don't draw half as much as I'd like! But thanks.
MrFrenik: I shall!
SO! I attacked the portfolio for a few hours today. Had one hell of a time with the perspective; live and learn. Posted to the concrit forum. I'll get back to it tomorrow.
Also I coloured a Billie.
Since I've tackled the hardest bit of that portfolio piece today I think it's only fair I let myself do MORE FANART.
What is originality
Some more of the merlady pic. Values adjusted thanks to the input of the people in the crit subforum!
Been doing colour comps but I realised quickly I was stumped, so I did a colour study. Going to do more tomorrow before I attack colour comps.

I'm stumped with how to proceed with the shipwreck pic. It's too ambitious for me. I don't know how to proceed; maybe I'll just keep it in black and white and stick that in my 'folio. I don't know how I'm going to do the colours.
SO since I'm stuck, GUESS WHO'S DOING FANART AGAIN. Shit. I really need to branch out and do original stuff but when I'm nervous it seems all I feel like doing is fanart. Tough bikkies, I'll have to deal with it and make the next piece an original one.
... Buuut the Katrana Prestor portrait is turning out so well I might just sneak it into my portfolio. I don't think you're supposed to put fanart in there but I really do like it so far.
What I've been working on this week -- colour comps.
It only just occurred to me that if I'm so determined to keep this lady in green robes, I should choose a more green-friendly colour comp. -_-
Update on art school and stuff: might not be able to get into TAFE like I want. But there's an alternative that doesn't even require a portfolio. Only problem is, it's a private school, so I can't get a government loan for it. And good luck to me if I want a bank loan. Neh, I'll figure something out.
Haven't been doing much lately. Insert excuses here!
A new art school just opened up, as part of TAFE, and it's one of the few courses in Australia which focuses solely on concept art, and it's the ONLY one I know of that you can get governmental school loans for! I've secured an interview for the 22nd but haven't emailed a portfolio yet. It'd be perfect. Fine arts... yeah, it's still studying art, but it wasn't really the type of art I wanted.
Wish me luck. I want this so bad.
Cool light studies! Wish you Good luck with getting into that concept art school!

A very interesting sketchbook! I especially liked the ferrets in post #336 You have improved much since the first page, keep rocking!
Nice still life! The glass looks pretty good! Brushwork works well too!
I think, regarding your faces, you should definitely go pack to the structure. Do a lot of sketches. hundreds. If you can, buy a small human skull and practice with it. Move it around in all directions to see how it works. I see that you're doing a lot of portraits, but the basics are off. That makes it difficult. If you make studies, take MUCH more time to measure it and get it down right. Many of the studies look fast, but I don't think that will help you. Paint the stuff until it is really finished. Even if a selfie takes two hours (I know how that feels, but you can learn so much more!)
Really cool progress here, keep posting
Crits and help of any kind are more than welcome!
