Art,by this man's definition would be the captured soul essence of a vessel,an engine of otherwise mundane exertions trying to create outside of the valued norm. Any common expenentially exerted 'force' through the fingertips via the construct of art can be ventilated via paints, inks, lead and various other mediums.

It is in no less a fragment of the artist's own heart and mind,a fracture at times of everything they stand to be and this means that art by it's very core is simply that person in completion at that given moment in their life.

Art moves people, weakens people, helps people to escape, helps people to remember, helps people to be what they always wanted to be,it is a thousand things to a hundred people;rebellion, decadence, expression and painted lust.

That,in the measly words i can conjure at this late hour mr caw_,is art.

And the misspelling looks vaguely Freudian to me...

Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid on a coffin?

Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?

Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?

Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

C'mon FootstepsBeckon, you're slacking! There are lots of people here waiting to be enlightened by your enormous knowledge base, which I have to say I'm doubting a little judging by your response to the 'What is art?' question, which does somewhat lapse into pseudo-spiritual metaphor, cliché and bad grammar. Looking forward to seeing more specific answers in future, as I'm really pinning my hopes on you addressing the 'Moose' question posted by Mr/Mrs/Ms Stabby above...

PS...and if you supplement any of your answers with Wikipedia... it doesn't count!

I've always wanted a thread like this, I have quite a few questions:

    * Please provide me with a formula for calculating the required eV output of a gamma ray emitter powerful enough to trigger a thermo-nuclear runaway via electron-positron pair production in a star of variable size x. You may also express it in terms of mass.

    * Given the physics parameters of a Harnik-Kribs-Perez Weakless Universe and the adjustments to Big Bang Nucleosynthesis of such a universe to allow for star-formation, what is the propensity for intelligent life to develop (bearing in mind necessarily neutrino-less supernovae)? Treat life as necessarily carbon-based, and the arbitrarily employed "intelligent" as 1) exhibiting consciousness and 2) the cognitive capacity to understand and utilize powerful mathematical systems as seen in modern-day physics.

    * Is there a possibility of a naturally occurring mechanism by which matter might lose its mass to allow for cyclic cosmology? If so, detail this strange inversion of reason.

    * Is there a possibility of an anthropic mechanism by which matter could be altered or generated to have negative mass? If so, please do tell.

I don't think any of these are beyond everyone on earth, they're just quite specific and I'd really love to know the answers. I have more, but I'll leave you with these for now.

    Thanks a bunch!
    Brendan Noeth
